Pelosi: Gingrich has 'done plenty of dumb things'

Washington (CNN) - House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi has been a fixture on the GOP presidential campaign trail of late, but not of her own accord.

Newt Gingrich - a former House speaker - and Pelosi - then the speaker - appeared side-by-side in a climate change commercial; Gingrich now says, "the dumbest thing I've done in the last four years was sit on a couch with Nancy Pelosi."

In a Tuesday interview on CNN's "John King, USA," Pelosi pushed back sharply against his characterization of the episode.

"I think he's done plenty of dumb things and there's stiff competition for what is the dumbest thing he's done, of course, including his violations of the ethics rules of the House of Representatives," she said.

Pelosi said the ethics charges against Gingrich were not a "Democratic vendetta," but she declined to comment further, saying "the public record speaks for itself."

And a Gingrich presidency, she said, is not a reality she expects to see.

"He's not going to be President of the United States," she said. "That's not going to happen. Let me just make my prediction and stand by it: that is not going to happen."

I notice that no one has mentioned Newt's role in the Clinton impeachment. I thought he would claim that as his greatest accomplishment. If not, wonder why Mitt hasn't attacked him over it?

Why didn't John King challenge her on the threat? Aren't both of them irresponsible? Has another politician every publicly threatened a Presidential candidate with 'I know something?' Twice? Pelosi is in an insecure place in her life and it is sad to watch.

Perfect. Pelosi attacks Gingrich, which causes a knee-jerk reaction by the dittohead redumblicans to vote for Gingrich. He becomes the nominee and then Pelosi drops the info she has on him from the ethics investigation and Obama wins in another landslide victory. Well played ma'am, well played.

Gingrich doesn't seem to have a self edit function. That is a problem for a president because there are many people who listen carefully. I don't want a president who has a major case of foot-in-mouth disease like Gingrich. He may be smart, but he does some majorly foolish things.

Seriously? Pelosi's attack on Gingrich is the best testimonial in the world to vote for him!
