Team Gingrich takes down Spanish-language ad

Coral Springs, Florida (CNN) - The Newt Gingrich campaign has taken off the air a Spanish-language radio spot not long after an influential Florida senator lambasted the presidential candidate for releasing an "inaccurate" and "inflammatory" ad about Mitt Romney's immigration record.

Florida Republican Sen. Marco Rubio sharply criticized Gingrich Wednesday for running the ad, which calls Romney "the most anti-immigration candidate."

Romney rips Gingrich in Nevada ad

(CNN) - Mitt Romney's campaign took its ongoing attack of rival Newt Gingrich to Nevada Wednesday, slamming the former House speaker for his role advising mortgage giant Freddie Mac in the next battleground in the GOP primary.

The 30-second spot, called "Nevada Families," is similar to an ad that began running Monday in Florida. Both Nevada and Florida have been hit particularly hard by the national housing crisis, with foreclosure rates well above the national average.

Speaker tells members what not to wear

Washington (CNN) - Just seconds after an emotional tribute to Arizona Democratic Rep Gabby Giffords in the House of Representatives Wednesday, House Speaker John Boehner - who got a little choked up in the moment - suddenly felt the need to remind members that there's a dress code on the House floor.

Boehner recovered his composure after embracing Giffords, who had just handed him her resignation letter. He looked around the chamber, and announced, "the chair would remind all members to be in proper business attire when you come to the floor of the House."

Romney says Gingrich ad used 'terrible terms'

Miami, Florida (CNN) - In an interview at a Hispanic forum in Miami on Wednesday, Mitt Romney accused Newt Gingrich of making an unfair attack on his immigration stance in a campaign radio ad, saying the ad used "terrible terms" in a manner that was "very sad" and "inappropriate."

Hours before, the Gingrich campaign acknowledged it had stopped running the Spanish language ad, which had referred to Romney as "the most anti-immigrant candidate" and drew censure from Florida Sen. Marco Rubio.

McCain blasts Gingrich on earmarks and leadership

Washington (CNN) – Sen. John McCain tore into Newt Gingrich Wednesday, accusing the former House Speaker of encouraging an explosion of earmarks that ultimately led to corruption in congress and for having a leadership style that would be problematic as president.

"I saw these earmarks explode. I saw the corruption that resulted from it," the former Republican presidential nominee said on a conference call with reporters organized by Mitt Romney's campaign. McCain endorsed Romney after the Iowa caucuses.

Mitt Romney: The man on the wedding cake?

(CNN) - Less than 10 months from the general election, Barack Obama appears to be laying the groundwork for a reprise of Harry Truman's populist 1948 campaign.

Running for a second term with a soft economy, the president's ready to tie the Republican nominee to what he characterizes as an extreme, do-nothing Congress serving the interests of the wealthy elite at the expense of the broad middle class.
