Gingrich campaign admits error
(CNN) - Newt Gingrich's campaign admitted Wednesday night the former House speaker was inaccurate when he claimed his team offered several witnesses to ABC News to refute statements made by Gingrich's second wife in a controversial interview aired last week.
CNN Chief National Correspondent John King reported the campaign said it only recommended Gingrich's two daughters from his first marriage, who wrote a letter discouraging ABC to release the interview.

Marianne Gingrich claimed in the ABC interview that her husband asked for an open marriage while he was having an extramarital affair with his current wife, Callista Gingrich.
"The story was false. Every personal friend I have who knew us in that period says the story is false. We offered several of them to ABC to prove it was false. They weren't interested," Gingrich said at a CNN debate last week.
In an interview on Tuesday, King pressed Gingrich on those claims, saying ABC News insisted no such witnesses were put forward.
Gingrich said ABC's defense was "just plain baloney."
"If they're saying that, then they're not being honest," Gingrich said. "We had several people prepared to be very clear and very aggressive in their dispute about that, and (ABC News) wasn't interested."
On Wednesday, however, the campaign conceded the candidate was wrong, both in his debate answer and in his interview with CNN on Tuesday.
R.C. Hammond, the campaign's press secretary, told CNN the only people the campaign offered to ABC were the speaker's two daughters, Jackie Cushman and Kathy Gingrich Lubbers, who make regular appearances for their father on the campaign trail.

The thing is unless they were in the room with Newt and Marianne when it was discussed then their saying its true means nothing. I am sure Newt told them it wasn't true whether it was or it wasn't, because he wouldn't want them to think any less of their father and I highly doubt that either he or Marianne would have wanted anyone else present when they were discussing this and certainly not his children (it doesn't matter how old your children are – when you're discussing stuff like this you do not want them (or for that matter anyone) around).
What another lie from Gingrinch I just don't beleive it, this man is a pillar of society, he is the moral authority on how a man should handle himself. NOT
He has no shame at all. To continue in attack mode on others, when he's dripping wet sleazy, well.....

I'm sure that no parent has ever withheld the whole truth from his/her children to uphold their parental image.
He has been wrong on many things in fact and moral. I don't find him a likeable person because he has had so many questionable actions and problems in the past. That doesn't deny that he is smart and could have ideas to be used in the future. He just isn't the man now or ever.
Like anyone would believe his two daughters who are on Daddy's payroll and would be dis-loyal to their own mother by claiming their father did not ask her for a divorce in the hospital. Unless they were a party to the conversation I would rather hear the events from a first hand source. Why wife #2 pretends to be so shocked at Newt's open marriage request is a puzzle as she was a mistress herself. When she moved on to wife, she left a job opening in the mistress deptartment which Calista the church going Catholichypocrit would fill for 8 years. What is in the drinking water of Republicans, first Palin flaunting her pregnant teenage daughter, now this serial groom. If someome had told me 10 years ago we would have a black man as President and his opponents would be scandalous I would have had them locked away.
John – Does this make your tender feelings better? Must have been highly embarrassing to you when the Speaker put you and CNN in your rightful place at the beginning of the debate! You have to get very tedious about your details in order to make yourself look better. If Obama made a statement like this and it wasn't 100% accurate, would CNN have gone to the trouble it did with Newt? I THINK NOT!!!
That's how Republicans lie. They tell the lie so it's out there for everybody to hear. And, then they come back and say, Oh that wasn't true. But, it's out there and the original statement can't be reversed. What and asshole.

The Republicans should nominate Gingrich only if there is no hope of beating Obama in the General elections. He has been proven to be a liar repeatedly. He is not trustworthy and cannot win the Presidency. It will be unwise of the Republicans to nominate him, he blatantly lied during the debate to win points, the American electorate will not be fooled again.
I am surprised that no one has yet called him on one of his biggest lies that he repeats on every stump. That "as Speaker" that he personally "led the Congress to four straight years of balanced budgets." First of all, it was only three years. Worst of all, he was gone by the time most of that took place. Newt didn't see the Congress in 1999. We had balanced budgets in FY1999, FY2000, and FY2001. Gingrich is lying, but I know that the DNC will let him live it up until he wins the nomination.
He's not "in error"! The headline should read: Campaign Admits Gingrich Lied! Why beat around the bush?

What a wonderfully loaded and misleading headline, CNN. Shall we now all refer to the 35% paid by the vast VAST majority of middle-class tax payers as "the GOP's 35% serfdom tax"? Jerks. He's not suggesting taxing them at no less than 30% for being millionaires as the headline (purposefully) implies...he's suggesting making it so they pay as much as the rest of us.

Is anything about Newt's infidelity really a surprise anymore? He was in a relationship with Wife2 before divorcing Wife1, he was in a relationship with Wife 3 before divorcing Wife 2, and he will probably cheat (or is cheating) on Wife3. How can he be believed on anything? If he can't be faithful to his wife, how can anyone expect him to be faithful to America? Newt does what is best for Newt and everyone else be damned. He is not running for President to help Americans, he is running to stoke his enormous ego.
Newt Gingrich's only error / inaccuracy is himself.
As a former Republican and now a toss up independent, if Newt is choosen for the GOP canidate for president I can either not vote at all or vote for another 4 years for Obama........I believe that it is the duty of every American to vote for one or the other and I will have to cast my vote for Obama.
