Jacksonville, Florida (CNN) – The Tampa Tribune endorsed Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich, who the newspaper said is an “innovative problem-solver with rock-hard conservative credentials,” over Mitt Romney, whom it called the “safer choice.”
Sunday’s endorsement from the city’s second-largest newspaper that leans conservative comes two days before Florida’s primary election in which Romney is favored to win.

Sarasota, Florida (CNN) - At a rally in an airplane hangar here Sunday morning, several campaign surrogates spoke on behalf of Rick Santorum while the GOP candidate stayed home in Pennsylvania to care for his youngest daughter, 3-year-old Isabella, who was admitted to a hospital Saturday night.
A campaign aide confirmed prior to the event that Bella, as her family calls her, returned to the hospital on Saturday because she had contracted pneumonia in both of her lungs, but as she was not placed on a ventilator the family is hopeful she'll make a speedy recovery.

Washington (CNN) - Front-runners Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich traded accusations of dishonesty Sunday as the increasingly vitriolic Republican presidential campaign headed for its biggest primary to date.
With two days to go before Florida voters decide who gets the state's winner-take-all 50 delegates, Romney held a widening lead over Gingrich in the competition to become the first of the four remaining candidates to win two contests in this year's nominating process.

Naples, Florida (CNN) - Keeping up his attacks on Newt Gingrich, a fiery Mitt Romney suggested Sunday that the former House speaker "look in the mirror" to understand why his campaign seemed to be faltering in Florida.
The former Massachusetts governor, who polls show widening his lead over his rival in Florida, accused the former House speaker of "finding excuses everywhere he can" and likened him to President Barack Obama.

(CNN) – The largest newspaper in Nevada endorsed Mitt Romney's presidential bid on Sunday, a week from next Saturday's caucuses in the state.
The Las Vegas Review-Journal credited the former Massachusetts governor for his business experience, arguing his "greatest strength is his command of economic issues and his understanding of what the private sector needs to create jobs."
