Axelrod's tweet worse than his bite

(CNN) - One of President Barack Obama's top campaign officials took a not-so-veiled jab at Mitt Romney Monday, tweeting a photo of the president riding in the presidential limousine with his Portuguese Water Dog Bo.

"How loving owners transport their dogs," Axelrod wrote, taking an apparent stab at Mitt Romney, whose own experience transporting pets has become fodder for rival candidates and newspaper columnists.

Newt Gingrich first introduced the tale of Romney's dog Seamus into the 2012 contest earlier this month when his campaign released a web video featuring Romney awkwardly explaining how his family's Irish Setter ended up in a kennel on the top of a moving car.

The incident took place in the 1980s on a road trip to Canada. As Romney explained in the Fox News clip featured by the Gingrich campaign, "he climbed up there regularly, enjoyed himself. He was in a kennel at home a great deal of time as well. We loved the dog. It was where he was comfortable and we had five kids inside the car and my guess is he liked it a lot better in his kennel than he would have liked it inside."

This must be the "dog days" of a very long and drawn out political season.

Funny how Romney was on the other side of every issue but now is a snarling fool to those who believe as he used to.

Axelrod just make it more prominent that Muslims do not allow their dogs to travel with them. watch when they the Obamas take trips. Their dogs accompany them but in separate air planes because it is against the Muslim religion for them to be with the. They travel at a tremendous cost to the taxpayer. WE MUST GET RID OF THIS CANCER THAT HAS FALLEN UPON THE U.S.

it's good that obama and axlerod know how to treat dogs. now if they just treated americans decently we'd be all set. they throw americans under the bus and let the mexicans ride up front. their both just trash that craps on the american people 3 times a day.

It is a sign of narcisstic personality to name a dog after your own initials. Bo=Barack Obama

Romney gave up on pets when he started running for the Presidency 6 years ago. He's a cheapskate, an inveterate liar, and a total hypocrite. Tells one thing to a progressive, another to a conservative, and yet another thing to a middle of the roader. All the while with that phony smile on his face.

Another non-issue for CNN to discuss. By the way, I heard unemployment is around 9%.

If Romney becomes Prez, will they have the kennel on top of the limo with a presidential seal on it?

Gingrich has a lot of nerve talking about Mitt and his dog because he himself has acted like a dog in heat; this woman and that woman, shame on Newt.

"How loving owners transport their dogs," Axelrod wrote. Maybe we should elect Romney so HIS dog can ride in the presidential limo.

A dog is the mans best friend!!! but Romney doesn't only mistreat dogs. He openly calls Illegal immigrants "illegals" like they are not people but corporations are people.

Now let me see mom dad 5 kids a dog. In my smallish SUV I have 7 seats and still a space at the back where a dog can and does lie down and a cage bar prevent him from jumping into the car itself. WE can give him cool air as needed and a water bowl occasionally if needed.
The excuses from Ronmey just that, on the other hand not an important subject per se. the dog was not neccessarily unhappy on the roof or badly treated. slow news day obviously.

Let me see if I have this right, He puts his dog in a kannel and straps it to the roof of his car AND he keeps the dog
In a kennel at home? Realy? Poor dog, what a way for an animal to have to live. Guess we now know how the the
poor and even mid. class will be delt with if by some form of luck on his part he would become POTUS.

Oh, you don't think Romney has enough money today to put a pet inside the car? For that matter, he didn't have enough money in 1983 to put his dog inside? I didn't realize how poor he was then. This is just disgusting. You can tell a lot about the character of a person by how they treat their pets, and Romney shows a very low level of caring.

I've seen the picture that Axelrod was referring to. What he really meant to say was:
Here is a picture of our President, that bought a dog once he arrived in the White House in order to look presidential. See that the dog is riding in the presidential limosine with a secret service escort all on tax payer money, with a photographer conviently at hand, in order to take this "candid" photo. In defense of Axelrod, I'd have to say, "I'd love to do the same". But, I don't live in fantasy land with photographers capturing my "spontaneous moments" with citizens paying the bill. Alas, at least I can dream.
