
Fort Myers, Florida (CNN) – Newt Gingrich took his latest swing at Republican frontrunner Mitt Romney on Monday, calling his opponent's campaign "pathetic" and grousing loudly about the negative tone of the race.
Campaigning in Fort Myers on the eve of the Florida primary – his fourth stop on a statewide fly-around - Gingrich took the stage in a parking lot at the local airport to address several hundred supporters, many of whom had been waiting in a pleasant breeze for nearly two hours to see the candidate.

(CNN) – Newt Gingrich's Florida state chair all but called on Rick Santorum to drop from the shrinking GOP field Monday, expecting the bump would go to his candidate.

Jacksonville, Florida (CNN) - Polls in the Sunshine State don't open until 7 a.m. ET Tuesday, but more than 600,000 people have already voted in Florida's Republican presidential primary.
Early voting began statewide nine days ago, and according to figures released Monday afternoon by the Florida Department of State, which runs the division of elections, 293,760 people have already cast ballots.

Fifty-two percent of Republican and Republican-leaning registered voters said the GOP field was "fair or poor," an eight percentage-point increase since the question was asked in early January.

(CNN) - A top Republican's comparison of President Barack Obama to the captain of the ill-fated Costa Concordia this weekend ran aground Monday with the White House as it was sharply denounced by Press Secretary Jay Carney.

(CNN) – As Republican presidential candidates sprint toward Tuesday's Florida primary, President Barack Obama's reelection campaign claimed Monday the incumbent Democrat had all but wrapped up the key Hispanic vote.
In a memo to reporters, Obama for America Pollster Sergio Bendixen and Director of Hispanic Press Gabriela Domenzain suggest the two leading GOP candidates had alienated Latino voters with ramped up anti-immigration platforms.
