Gingrich will try to reset strategy

(CNN) - Newt Gingrich is expected to emphasize a more positive message Saturday following his second straight loss.

Gingrich has been meeting with his staff in the last two days and is aiming to reset his campaign strategy and message going forward, sources tell CNN.

The campaign staff and Gingrich also have discussed a path to help them accumulate delegates, signaling they still intend to stay in the primary race until the Republican convention in Tampa.

The discussions among the campaign staff occurred in Las Vegas and spanned Friday and Saturday. Part of the discussions also centered on how Gingrich should change his message.

Gingrich could signal some of his strategy shift in a Las Vegas news conference Saturday evening following his loss in the Nevada caucuses.

In an interview with CNN, Gingrich's daughters discussed some of the efforts to reset the campaign.

"We have been spending some of our time thinking ahead, planning our time," Jackie Cushman said.

Kathy Lubbers added: "We are working towards being in Tampa. This is a fluid race," she said, adding "We are here to stay."

Asked what Gingrich will announce Lubbers would only say "You should stay tuned."

One participant described Gingrich as "fired up" during Friday's meeting.

"I can tell you there's a plan all the way to Tampa," this source said of the strategy sessions. "We're going to play strategically and will have resources ... We are going to win."

As for the new "positive" message, that's quite the pivot from Friday when Gingrich harshly criticized Mitt Romney.

The Daily Beast first reported some details of the campaign shift.

    Hmm, a change in "strategy."

AKA, a change in stance on issues that he has changed in the past. Not any different that his rethinking his loyalty to his spouses.

Everyone can see the writing on the wall.

Our anger will be directed at Willard because of his association with Bain.

lol – yep – he will "re-acess" same as what the perry had done. lol – he will go on, because he's got his math guy – in his campaign – to see what his "delegate count" would be, when he carries the southern states – The newter will end up carrying the states below the mason-dixon line. al / tx / tn & etc & etc – Then he will see what his "mathematician" will come up with.

yeah? Well moon boy promised to run a positive campaign weeks and weeks ago and it lasted about an hour and a half. The man is a serial adulterer and liar and has the ethics of a hyena.

The best strategy Newt can do is to get out of the race and go to the moon. His favorite playground

I like Gingrich idea of a moon colony. He can go and be the first President. As far as being being President of the USA he has as much chance as the so called man in the moon.

Newt is quite possibly the most dilusional candidate I have ever seen. What is wrong with this man? In fact, what is wrong with the entire field this time around ? And what is up with the GOP voters? Are they REALLY willing to try to replace with President Obama with any old fool with and (R) behind his name? Get a grip people or you may find out that President Obama is not really your worst nightmare.

You know what the best thing Gingrich can do right now... and show that he is a class act? Drop out and endorse a true Conservative..and tell Americans. that if they wont vote for his endorsement... Vote for Obama..... because he at least has the working class American in mind... Chances of that? About zero, since he is a Corporate Insider.. but if he did that... he would make himself a hero.. and at least save face in spite of all his career politician.. care about himself and make millions stint in Washington... Oh and by the way.. if anyone wishes to start up some armed demonstrations and actually Revolt against Washington, Capitol Hill.. etc... count me in...

Ohhh Newter – – – Ohhhh Newter – – – don't you think it's sad to think you ended up ONLY 1 % Ahead of Ron Paul ?? You are gonna be surprised newter, indeed you are. Once you get into the southern states, you may end up embarassing yourself, newter. I mean, yes, you're going to win several, ( especially when the perry endorsed you) BUT – imagine ? What happens IF Ron Paul ends up coming IN a Close 2nd to You ? Is that gonna tell ya anything ?

    Wow – –

Listening to Newt right now on his news conference. The man is obviously derranged. He is so consumed with hate that he cannot think rationally. He is totally losing it as I write this. I will be anxious to hear what the commentators have to say. Trying to reset strategy? If that is exhibiting a mental illness he is sucessful. What a piece of work. Poor me poor me, PIty pot., blaming, a classic thinking error which he has in spades. My this man is sick in the head!!!!

I'm constantly astounded that Republicans believe the garbage from these candidates. As one example Newt's comments on Obama waging war against religion. Telling hospitals that they can't pick and choose services base on some religious dogma is the absolute correct thing to do. If Catholics want to refuse care then get out of the damn medical services business. This is a great reason we need medical care to be run by the government for the people. The only war I see is being waged by fundamentalists and Republican leaders against people and they use religion to do it. There are more churches (tax free by the way) than pizza restaurants. We need freedom from religion.

"Newt Gingrich is expected to emphasize a more positive message Saturday following his second straight loss."

Not in the way he's speaking at his press conference. What a nasty, dishonest, mean man. And since when has "moderate" become a bad word? God help us. if he's in any leadership position.

Why is NEWT getting all this FREE press? Hello CNN, his news conference was to get on TV, not to announce anything new.

Even if he reset his strategy, it doesn't change the fact that he isn't going to be the next president.

Newt's resetting has strategy? How can reset something you never had? That why his whole committee quit, he has no plan other than what Washinton Insider have, which he is. Tell anything they want hear and hope they never find out your not going to do it.

All Gingrich is doing by staying in the campaign is splitting apart the Republican party. He's going to keep hammering at Romney and "discrediting" him until all that bad mojo will seep into the final election against Obama. Gingrich and Paul have to start thinking of the bigger picture now (they're past done, I think we know that Romney has the bid)...Do they want Obama to have another four years or not? I assume they don't so now it's time to start playing as a Republican with their party interests at hand rather than an individual wanting something they're not going to get. Come on guys, get it together.
