House bill bans welfare spending at strip clubs

New York (CNNMoney) - If welfare recipients want to dole out the dollar bills at a strip club, they'd better make sure it's not government money ... at least if a bill in Congress becomes law.

The House last week overwhelmingly passed legislation that would require states to ban the ability to access government benefits at strip clubs, liquor stores and casinos.

Did they forget cigarrettes, or is that already banned? I think the problem is a real one. But, I have never seen a liquor store with an ATM. Have you? I have seen lots of small delis and such with them, but never in a store that sells exclusively liquor. I have seen them in beer stores, but they also sell ice, water, soda, etc.

What a slap in the face to everyone who goes to work each day . Those benefits are meant to give people a leg up on their situation so that they can be more productive in the long run . Only a great country can do that . When these programs are abused it weakens all of us !

Is this really a problem? If they are worried where people spend their money, put it all on a debit card with no cash option. I pay all my bills that way.

I'm a liberal and I can definitely agree with this bill. I hope this passes without any pork. Actually lets add drug testing government officials to that, most government employees must be subjected to that so why not everyone working for the government. Who agrees with me?

The GOP house members should know something about welfare, these losers are on welfare. Taking money and doing nothing to earn it . Boehner and Cantor are the two top prospects for getting nothing done except their tanning tub time could be considered medical traetment . These two loser are prime examples of getting free money. For Americas sake they will be gone in Novembers election, then they can hold hands and skip down the street and no one will care. They haven't done anything since the last election.

Good idea ! Not sure how many people actually do this, it might just be in the Republican's mind, but still a good idea. That is not what the money is meant for.
