Is Romney developing a Santorum 'Google problem'?

(CNN) - Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum's "Google problem" is well documented.

Now, the former U.S. senator's chief political rival, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, appears to be joining him.

Santorum picks up former Romney supporter

Washington (CNN) - Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine withdrew his support from Mitt Romney and endorsed Rick Santorum for president at a news conference in Columbus on Friday afternoon.

DeWine and Santorum served in the Senate together, and both lost their re-election bids in 2006, when Democrats captured both the House and Senate.

White House predicts 2 million more jobs in 2012

New York (CNNMoney) - The United States economy is on the road to recovery, the White House said Friday, with stronger job growth expected this year.

But income inequality, Europe's debt crisis, and continued weakness in the housing market could still pose challenges, according to a report released by President Obama's Council of Economic Advisers.

Pro Romney super PAC drops millions more on ads

Washington (CNN) - The super PAC supporting Mitt Romney, Restore Our Future, announced it has bought almost $6 million in new ad time signaling a major escalation in campaign spending. The group is spending almost $2 million this week on ads in eight states and on national cable.

With the ad wars intensifying in Michigan, whose Feb. 28th primary is shaping up to be a major battle, the super PAC has bought an additional $876,000 for commercials there beginning next Tuesday on top of the $640,000 it said it is spending this week in the state.

House Democratic group outraises Republicans

(CNN) - The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee said Friday it raised $6.02 million last month, its most successful January ever.

The House campaign group, which aims to capture 25 seats for Democrats this year to re-take the chamber, reported no debt and $13.05 million cash on hand.

Source: Suicide attack on U.S. Capitol foiled

Washington (CNN) - U.S. Capitol Police and the FBI on Friday arrested a Moroccan man who was planning a suicide attack on the Capitol, police and a federal law-enforcement official said.

The man had what he thought was a vest with explosives, but the materials in the vest had been rendered inoperable by law enforcement, Justice Department spokesman Dean Boyd said.

Congress passes payroll tax cut deal

Washington (CNN) - The Senate and the House of Representatives passed a bipartisan deal Friday extending the payroll tax cut and unemployment benefits while also avoiding a Medicare fee cut for doctors for the rest of the year.

The bill cleared the Senate in a 60-36 vote less than an hour after the House approved it by a 293-132 margin.

BREAKING: House passes payroll tax cut deal

(CNN) - The House of Representatives passed a bipartisan deal Friday morning extending the payroll tax cut and unemployment benefits while also avoiding a Medicare fee cut for doctors for the rest of the year.

The measure was approved in a 293-132 vote.
