Santorum and Satan – the devil is in the details

Washington (CNN) - A 2008 speech by Rick Santorum at Ave Maria University is making waves this week, in large part because Santorum said Satan had his sights set on America and the country was facing spiritual warfare.

The speech came at the beginning of the academic year at the Catholic university in Florida. At that point, the 2008 presidential campaign was in full swing. Then-candidate Barack Obama had recently made a statement about abortion and the issue of deciding when life began, which he said was above his pay grade.

Got news for Rick – Satan has set his sites on you, too. Whatever made him run for president? Ego, greed, he needed a job? Since he just said he wasn't a visionary and wasn't a manager, what the heck is he? Catholic in Chief?

Obama claimed that he could hear God.

Reality- nobody hears God except Jesus and Moses. Obama couldn't hear God.

So Santorum is running on some "religious mission" to save America fom Satan!? It's interesting that the issue of abortion worked itself into the article! Was that the reason for Santorums speech, or are people drawing conclusions? Is this just another ploy to get people arguing about Roe v Wade again? The thing is, there seems to be open season on womens healthcare & all coming from the right! There is no question about "when" life starts, there is a huge question about when government intrusion ends! Most women don't want strangers, old white dudes w/old viewpoints, to tell us "what, why, when, where or how" when it comes to our reproductive system & rights as citizens! There are 7 billion mouths to feed on this planet, our economy is bust & the religious right want to take away womens rights to not push out a baby every year! This makes no sense! Santorums rhetoric is bad for the country & the world, he's no Savior!!

    Catholic in Chief! hahahaha.
Lets just save all this Republican money thats being wasted trying to take the White House. Give it to the poor or needy.
Give it to people who need to save their homes. Give it to returning veterans who are in need, or the injured, or the families of the deceased. I'm sure these Republicans already have non-military serving kids with multi-million dollar trust funds, they dont need it.
These modern Republicans, these modern politico-religious types would probably nail Jesus to a cross for being middle eastern and going against the Wall Street banker types. Oh wait... didnt that happen once before?

Something tells me that if we re-elect Pres. Obama that the world will give us another Nobel Peace Prize, and Obama will have to pick it up again.

I'm looking for a President not a Pope or Preacher. The GOP has gone too far. I was a Republican for 35 years. GWBush was the end for me. I am now an Independent. What the GOP has offered is nothing short of Sharia Law/Taliban candidates. All using Christ for political gain. That makes them anti-Christs not serving Christ. The GOP went too far right polticially, socially and economically.

The fact that Santorum is even part of a semi-serious discussion on the next President is absurd. This is simply the side show before the inevitable and very welcome end to the Tea Party.

Yes satan is alive and well in Rick Santorum, this man is dangerous, there is so much hate and ugliness in his rhetoric, the bolder he gets the more evil shows up. At least we have a Christian President who doesn't ram his beliefs down anyone's throat as he is President for everyone and he understands the meaning of separation of Church and State.

CNN like other media could not have an objective though if the sky fell!!....They have like others lost touch with what America
has been about. We are in danger from within, more they can emagine.

What a dishonor to the American Consitution, and those who died to uphold it!

Satan has his sights on the WORLD. the U.S. does not have anything over any other place on earth when it comes to satan. Are you campaigning because you think you can save the Christian world?

The Church I grew up in (Catholic) taught two very important things: 1) if you only do good works so you can brag about how "christian' and 'good' you are, they amount to nothing and 2) it is very UN-Christian to question another's faith; you have all you can do to husband your own faith. Mr. Santorum fails on both counts.

With all due respect to the Americans, we do have to acknowledge that as a consequence of the years of “boasting/self exaltation” claiming to be the greatest nation on Earth. Now the American nation is being “humbled” in the sight of all nations. All wars they have taken on have ended in retried, their aids/funds has been abused, and America has been used to do the dirty work for others. It is time for the United States of America to humble themselves in the sight of our Creator and promote the real way to bring the economy to what it should be: “The World Monetary Order”

I wasn't even aware of this idiot's existence in 2008, much less concerned with anything that may have come out of his piehole then. The only reason why I stay abreast of what comes out of it now is because he is in the national spotlight affecting, through his dribblings, the mood of the country.
Satan can come back and take him home for all I care. He is one of his minions spewing dissent, lies, hiding behind his "religion" to tear people down. Screw him. And yes I'm a cradle Catholic, but I don't need any man, priest or otherwise to tell me right from wrong, or tell me what to do with my body.
It's Ash Wednesday Rick. Go to church and get your "cross".
    Obama 2012.

For far too long the Republican party has stood silently by as religion has been MISUSED by their party to excuse away bad behavior [racism, slavery, sexism, exploitation, "cliqu-ish" persecution of all types.] Now, that reluctance is comming home to bite them back.

Rick Santorum is a religious zealot. He just happens to claim to be a Christian zealot rather than an Islamic zealot. But most of us Americans will not accept either one as our President.

I don`t trust the judgement calls that that Christian Theocrats would make as government leaders. I can worry about satan [evil] on my own; it is NOT a function for Santorums form of BIG GOVERNMENT.
