Obama derides energy critics in Miami speech

(CNN) - President Barack Obama said Thursday his Republican critics promising immediate lower gas prices are either uninformed or dishonest, and he pledged in a speech to University of Miami students to continue pushing for alternative energy sources.

Framing the issue as "one of the major challenges of your generation," Obama said developing a broad-based energy policy incorporating all sources - oil, gas, nuclear, solar, wind and alternatives such as algae - would take years but was essential for the nation's future economic well-being.

The POTUS has no direct or indirect control over oil and gas prices. Policies, like starting wars or ending them, can impact prices. But, there is no magic wand to effect immediate control of the prices.

The EU is predicting a recession this year. That can only have a negative impact on our economy to some degree, slowing our own recovery.

It will cost more to have an electric car than one that runs on gas and the gas cars will get better mileage.

When you add in the cost to charge the cars, time it takes to charge the car, and how long the battery will last before it needs charging again, and the cost of the car you lose.

Pres. Obama, tell you the truth, there is nothing America can do it. Only we can do is pump more Energy-Efficiency Cars, Hybrid, High-Efficiency-Fuel-Cell-Automobile to the nation. We win, they lose. Once America reduces its Oil, Entire world's OPEC goes bankrupt. Middle east begs Alms. True, true, true, and true.
