As Michigan votes, Buckeye battle looms

(CNN) – As voters go to the polls in Michigan, the candidates and campaigns are already focused on Ohio which is shaping up to be the next major battleground as it votes in a week on March 6th as part of Super Tuesday.

Obama: Auto bailouts worked

New York (CNNMoney) - President Obama on Tuesday defended his administration's 2009 bailout of the auto industry in a speech to the United Auto Workers union, saying it prevented another Great Depression from hitting the Midwest.

Obama said that, despite claims of Republican critics, the bailout was the only way to prevent the closure of General Motors and Chrysler Group and the collapse of the nation's supplier base.

Romney acknowledges mistakes

Livonia, Michigan (CNN) - The morning after confidently declaring he would win Michigan's primary, on Tuesday Mitt Romney acknowledged a series of gaffes had damaged his effort and downplayed expectations for the voting results in the state where he was born.

Romney accused former Sen. Rick Santorum of using "the dirty tricks of a desperate campaign" after Santorum's team encouraged Michigan Democrats to support him in the state's open primary. Romney said the effort could hurt him when the votes are tallied Tuesday night.

Kentwood, Michigan (CNN) - Accused by Mitt Romney of using a "dirty trick" robo call in the hours leading up to the Michigan primary, Rick Santorum was quick to jab back at his GOP rival.

Obama looking to Michigan on GOP primary

(CNN) – Michigan is a two hour plane ride from Washington, but President Obama on Tuesday will only have to travel a couple miles north of the White House to campaign there.

Close to 2,000 auto workers meeting in the nation’s capital this week constitute a key bloc of support for the president’s reelection campaign as it looks to put Michigan in the win column next November.

Super PAC backing Gingrich assails Romney in ads

(CNN) – Flush with cash after another 'sizable' donation from Las Vegas billionaire Sheldon Adelson, the super PAC supporting presidential candidate Newt Gingrich is going up with ads ripping rival Mitt Romney in seven states ahead of Super Tuesday.

The group, Winning our Future, will run ads beginning Tuesday in Georgia, Tennessee, Ohio and Oklahoma. Those four states vote March 6, Super Tuesday. Starting Wednesday the organization will run ads in Kansas, which votes March 10, and Alabama and Mississippi, which vote March 13. The group thinks the ads will stay up through each of the states' primaries, but would not discuss the amount of money spent on the buy.

Borger: New case of class warfare - between Santorum and Romney

Editor's note: Gloria Borger is CNN's chief political analyst, appearing regularly on shows such as "AC360˚," "The Situation Room," "John King USA" and "State of the Union."

Washington (CNN) - For months now, the GOP has been complaining about Barack Obama's class warfare: He's pitting the wealthy against the middle class. He's unfairly asking the rich to pay more taxes. He's dividing the country along economic lines for his own political agenda.

But wait. Has anybody looked at what's going on in the GOP lately? Can it be that class warfare is alive and thriving among Republicans?
