‘Joe the Plumber’ wins GOP primary in Ohio

(CNN) - Samuel Wurzelbacher, better known as "Joe the Plumber," won Tuesday's Republican primary in Ohio's 9th Congressional District, according to unofficial vote results from the Ohio Secretary of State.

With 100% of precincts reporting, Wurzelbacher bested opponent Steven Kraus to become the GOP nominee and will face Democratic Rep. Marcy Kaptur, the longest serving woman in the House of Representatives, in the fall.

Kaptur defeated longtime Rep. Dennis Kucinich in a closely-watched Democratic primary Tuesday that pitted the two incumbents against each other after the state redrew its lines in a redistricting battle.

Wurzelbacher rose to GOP fame in 2008 when he challenged then-presidential candidate and Sen. Barack Obama over his small business tax plan.

The confrontation quickly became a popular anecdote in the presidential election and was frequently used as a campaign message by then-Republican presidential candidate and Sen. John McCain and his then-running mate and Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin.

The plumber-turned-celebrity has since capitalized on his popularity by writing a book and making media and campaign appearances.

I find it interesting when people vote with their hearts and not their heads. If he wins, he'll be just another Tea Party Obstructionist in Washington' We need people who want to govern, not whine and obstruct.

The GOP just becomes a bigger joke every day. Joe the Dumber fits their mold of opinionated know nothings that think they have all the answers.

Just what America needs... Another politician who lied about having a small business he never had, wasn't licensed to work as a plumber and dodged paying taxes. Joe the Not-A-Plumber needs to go get a real job and stop playing at being a celebrity.

Well Just goes to shows that anyone can run for office (ask S. Palin)...and they strong don’t always survive. What I find Interesting is they indicated he "challenged Obama on his small Business tax". Not true! He said he did not like it but never gave a plan on how to improve it and make it better for small Business.- and of course never challenged GW- which was the worst Small Business tax plan put into place over the past two decades. Pretty common rhetoric for those Tea party conservatives. Well Ohio good luck.

I believe this guy didn't pay all of his taxes during the 2008 campaign. Has he finally cleared that up? What policies does he plan on making his priorities while in the House? Does he understand that he will be one of 435 in the House and low man in the pecking order.

Really Ohio, "Joe The Plumber"? Wow, and I thought Alaskans had the "moron" market cornered. Oh well, I guess it just goes to show there's a state in the lower 48 that has an average I.Q. less than 100.

Right, so in 2008 the GOP picks 1/2 a Governor who picks 1/2 a plumber by the name of Samuel Wurzelbacher, re-baptised him 'Joe the Plumber' and now we have their new political star?

Nothing personal Joe but really, what is your plan to get the US/world out of the financial stress? How are yoy going to convince Assad to let his people in peace? How are you going to pesuade Iran into not building nuclear weapons?
Let's just wait for your answers on these three questions, OK?
On a side note, I do not have a solid answer on any of these issues, I have ideas but who is to say my ideas have not been voiced to Obama and others along with many other ideas and what we are looking at is a combination of all these ideas executed by Obama?
