Romney wins entire Guam delegation

(CNN) – Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney won the unanimous vote among Guam Republicans to pledge all nine of their delegates to his presidential campaign.

The vote was passed Saturday by all 207 of the 215 registered Republicans in attendance at their yearly convention.

"I am grateful to have won all nine delegates in Guam," Romney said in a statement after the vote. "The people of Guam have always stood bravely for America and the values we hold dear. Today we stand together in our efforts to secure the future that this nation deserves."

Guam's delegates represent less than 1% of the 1,144 votes needed to win the Republican nomination. While the delegates of the pacific island are unpledged, the unanimous support ensures that all nine will vote to nominate Romney at the national convention this August in Tampa, Florida.

The support of Guam's Republicans brings Romney's current delegate count to 438, CNN estimates.

"The focus of Guam is much like the rest of the United States," said Gov. Eddie Baza Calvo. "With that in mind, it's important for us to have a nominee who understands the economy."

Calvo, who pledged his support for Romney after a phone call with him on Friday, spoke about the effect unfunded mandates and government regulation have on an island in the same time zone as Japan.

"Mitt Romney has done business domestically, internationally and run a state government," Calvo said, citing Romney’s experience helps him understand the needs of Guam. He noted the island's unemployment rate of about 13%, which factored in his choice of a candidate with business experience.

The governor announced his support for Romney publicly before the convention delegation ahead of the vote. His support may have contributed to the unanimity of the delegation. An informal poll taken as delegates entered the meeting showed Romney with the support of 83% of the voters. Only 181 of the participants took part in the poll.

Guam is one of five U.S. territories that have delegates with voting privileges at the Republican National Convention in August in Tampa. The others are American Samoa, Northern Marianas, Puerto Rico, and U.S. Virgin Islands.

Ron Paul might support Mitt Rmoney in his WAR mongering on 2 conditions:

    1. The sons of Rmoney will join the military.

    2. The war will be funded from Rmoney's accounts in Cayman Islands

Mitt Romney's five sons who avoided military service in a time of war have always stood bravely for America and the values we hold dear.

Here is a great plan....lets send the same old Washington insiders back to Washington, especially the ones that have been compaigning to move our focus off the Recession. The Recession....does anyone remember the Recession? Our Nation is still crawling out of a devastating Recession, and the Washington insiders don't seem to focus on the deplorable Economy...a couple of positive economic numbers, does not a recovery make. They have been rolling out the tried and true "I,m Holier then tho" theme, followed by a good milking of your deep spiritual feelings. Yes, these Washington insiders are spending multi-millions tooting their own horns over age old social and spiritual issues.....which will not move our Nation a step closer to fixing the broken Economy. It is this Washington insider "mind set" that has caused our Nation to take past roads to economic ruin. Yes, lets send these Washington insiders back, so tha we , and our children can suffer generations of economic ruin.

wow, Mitt Romney wins Guam!! It is funny to me that the people of guam are way smarter than the southern conservatives and evangelicals, they made the right choice. But then again, evangelical conservatives are the most ignorant bigoted people in the country, and they are all fat and they smell bad. The reason they don't need birth control is their girls are so fat, ugly and smelly that nobody wants to sleep with them..all they have to do is keep the guys from getting ridiculously drunk by having dry counties, and they don't need to worry about unexpected babies! unfortunately, they make their own moonshine and end up making ugly, fat stupid babies.

I'm not a big fan of Mittens but as long as it's not little Rickey that's all that counts. I'm not happy with the entire GOP clown car show but by far little Ricky is the worst, the most scary, No one lies more than little Ricky, although Newty is close behind him. Paul has some very strange ideas but he's the most believable of the group, but the Tea Bagger folks won't vote for him which is funny because if you listen to their lies they should be behind him all the way, just more proof that the Tea Baggers are fakes and liars. No matter who ends up as the nominee portions of the GOP are not going to be happy, period!
