When Romney says 'get rid of' Planned Parenthood he means…
(CNN) – Mitt Romney reiterated his pledge to defund Planned Parenthood Tuesday, telling a local television reporter in a St. Louis suburb he would "get rid of" the women's health organization if he were president.
In context, Romney's remark appeared to refer to revoking federal funding for the group, which many conservatives oppose because it provides abortions. As president, Romney wouldn't be in position to "get rid of" Planned Parenthood because it isn't a government entity. But his Democratic critics were still quick to pounce with context or not.

Santorum wins Alabama, Mississippi, CNN projects
(CNN) - Rick Santorum will win Tuesday's Republican primaries in Alabama and Mississippi, CNN projects, giving a boost to his claim that he is the conservative alternative to Mitt Romney.
The projected wins were somewhat of a surprise. Polls released Monday showed Santorum running 8 to 10 points behind Romney and Newt Gingrich in Alabama and Mississippi.

Despite shooting, GOP and Democratic senators say stay the course on Afghanistan
Washington (CNN) - Senators from both parties expressed shock and dismay Tuesday at the shooting of Afghan civilians by an apparent rogue American soldier this weekend, but most said the tragic incident should not lead to a change in the current U.S. policy that has combat troops withdrawing from the country by 2014.
"I support the policy the administration has laid out to move toward a transition over the next couple of years," said Sen. Mitch McConnell, the Republican leader from Kentucky who is often critical of Obama administration policies. "It certainly has been a very difficult period with the incidents that have brought this all so much to home again. I still think, though, it's important to remember the reason we went there and what happened when the Taliban was running the country."
Romney says Santorum at 'desperate end' of campaign
(CNN) – Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney was blunt in describing rival Rick Santorum's White House prospects Tuesday, saying Santorum's bid for the GOP nomination was coming to a "desperate end."
Speaking on CNN's "The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer," the former Massachusetts governor and two-time presidential candidate said Santorum was bending the truth to resuscitate a losing effort.

Santorum rails against Maher on 'Christian madrassa' comment
(CNN) - Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum hit back against Bill Maher Monday night after the liberal talk show host criticized Santorum for home-schooling his children, calling his home a "Christian madrassa."
Responding to his comments, Santorum, a devout Catholic, said on Fox News that "folks on the left" are out there "trashing anybody who stands up for Christian conservative values, anybody who dares to actually teach their children faith in their home."
