Santorum rails against Maher on 'Christian madrassa' comment
(CNN) - Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum hit back against Bill Maher Monday night after the liberal talk show host criticized Santorum for home-schooling his children, calling his home a "Christian madrassa."
Responding to his comments, Santorum, a devout Catholic, said on Fox News that "folks on the left" are out there "trashing anybody who stands up for Christian conservative values, anybody who dares to actually teach their children faith in their home."

Maher made the remarks on his show Friday, saying that Santorum was sheltering his children and educating them in the home rather than in public out of fear they "could be infected by the virus of reason."
"It's no coincidence that the type of tree which God forbade Adam and Eve eating from was the tree of knowledge. Rick Santorum home-schools his children because he does not want them eating that (audio bleep) apple," Maher said. "He wants them locked up in the Christian madrassa that is the family living room, not out in public where they could be infected by the virus of reason."
The comedian has drawn criticism from many on the right for his comments against top Republicans. In response, some conservatives, including Sarah Palin, have called on a super PAC supporting President Barack Obama's re-election bid to return Maher's $1 million donation. The group, Priorities USA, has not indicated it would give back the contribution.
But Santorum on Monday, pointing to the uproar over Rush Limbaugh's comments last month against a law student who advocated for contraception coverage, said Maher's remarks were an “absolute double standard" from the left.
"All of a sudden, if you're instilling faith and teaching them about God in your home, you're a Madrassa, according to these folks, as if reason doesn't take place in these homes," Santorum said.
The candidate then argued his son, one of seven children, could take on Maher.
"Our children will out-reason him. My 12 year-old will out-reason Bill Maher when it comes to understanding how logic works, 'cause (Maher) is completely illogical," Santorum said.

There used to be a sign in the Youth Ministers office that said " 85% of children that don't accept Christ by the age of 18...NEVER WILL" Meaning..."If we don't BRAINWASH our children while their minds are easily manipulated by FEAR...they will grow up to THINK FOR THEMSELVES and realize that christianity is a bunch of insecure, self rightous, condeming crap!!" I listen to Bill Maher and he is right on Santorum. I have news for Santorum – Whether or not you like it, your kids will definitely eat the fruit of knowledge one day, and if it happens before the elections, even your own kids will not vote for you!!! Santorum will forever be in the “bubble” while Mr. Maher continues to scream loudly at the “bubble”. After listening to Santorum’s comments, I could have sworn he was home-schooled as well.
But I think this is a smart move on his part politically.

Santorum said that carbon dioxide isnt bad...just ask plants! I suggest that Santorum find out how breathable carbon dioxide is to humans, and he can thank his god for those plants which turn it into oxygen for the rest of us humans, considering we dont have the same biology as plants! WRONG! I'm one of those folks on the left and I have nothing but respect for the personal decisions that parents make when it comes to educating their children. What I do have a problem with is generalized comments and inaccurate stereotypes agains people on the left. Comparing us all to Bill Maher is like comparing all conservatives to Limbaugh.
I love that Santorum says his home is logical. Coming from a guy who is both pro-life and pro-death. I am not religous and I don't care if anyone else is religious, just don't bring it to my home. Also I wish the Religious would stop weighing in on government issues. If you want to wiegh in pay your induction fee like everyone else in this contry. If the church starts paying taxes I will start listening to what they have to say. Until then please shut it.

Hey Rick.........When you mention "Christian conservative values", are you also implying that there might be "Christian liberal values"? Or is it just a slick way of separating "folks on the left" from Christianity? How about just using the term "Christian values". However, people with true "Christian values" might not recognize "Christian conservative values" as being Christian-like.
I've come to realize that most of the comments come from the wild LEFT. Support home schooling which millions are doing around the world, or stand up for morality, and the names begin from the radical left. Their inflammatory rhetoric can't be reasonable and support another's right to do so. It's the socialist left or nothing. You lefties have a lot to learn.
