Rush Limbaugh joins Twitter
(CNN) – Rush Limbaugh, the conservative radio host who launched a firestorm earlier this month by calling a law student derogatory terms, joined Twitter Thursday.
Tweeting at the handle @Limbaugh, the host began his foray into the social networking site by sending out links to articles criticizing the liberal group Media Matters.

“Good story by @jeff_poor @DailyCaller. He gets it right, @mmfa wrong as usual. Read and Retweet.” The message linked to an article at the conservative website The Daily Caller.
On his radio program Thursday, Limbaugh explained his decision to start using his Twitter account.
“I've decided to actually activate it now and use it for strategic purposes since it has become such an effective means of informing people outside the bounds of this program,” Limbaugh explained.
He said the “retweet” function, which allows users to post another person’s message with one click, had the potential for “saturating the ‘Twitterverse.’”
One thing he won’t divulge on Twitter, however, are his meals.
“I'm not gonna be hanging on Twitter fifteen hours a day and tweeting, ‘I just had breakfast! I hope you have a wonderful day! Bye! Here's a picture of me eating some corn flakes!’ None of that stuff. You don't need to be worrying about that. No, it's just things I want people to see.”
As of Thursday evening, Limbaugh had amassed over 100,000 followers on the site.
Earlier this month Limbaugh generated a swirl of controversy after calling a law student who testified at a Democratic hearing on Capitol Hill a "slut" and a "prostitute." He later apologized to the student, but some of his advertisers and stations airing his program were quick to drop their support.

Looks like RL is looking for a backup plan when his radio show ceases. At first I thought I would follow him on twitter to make comments on his trash but I don't want him thinking he has fans. He may fade into obscurity as Glenn Beck, Imus, and Bill M. Bill ended up going into cable t.v because he lost so many sponsors, Imus was suspended for his trash, and Glenn Beck, well........Glenn Beck.......somewhere out there. See ya R.L
If he spoke about his meals, I dare say there would be no time for anything interesting, like denigrating women, gays, etc. Maybe he will speak about the cyst on his tush that he used to stay out of Vietnam? But don't count on it.

Only the liberals can get away with saying something offensive because everyone expects it, but when a conservative says something offensive there is hel l to pay. Rush used a poor choice of words but the point is no one should have to pay the price for someone else's choice to be promiscuous.

I'll bet Hitler would have used social media to deliver his message... It's important for us to understand the root of the problem. Rush Limbaugh is simply an entertainer who uses outrageous and hateful speech to incite his audience. If he didn't have a willing population of people to accept his dishonest and hateful message he would fail as an entertainer. Those of us willing to accept his distorted and inflamatory rheortic allow Limbaugh to continue his message of hate and division. Without listeners he'd go spiraling around the vortex in the toilet bowl and disappear from sight.

He got sacked hard on advertisers and he's not being defended by his brainless goons as much as usual because he picked on a girl, and it scares him. How many left leaning liberal sponsors dropped Bill Maher after he used far more vile language defaming Michelle bachman and Sarah Palin - NONE. The sanctimonious nature of the team cheerleader is amazing. The opposing "team" is full of lowlifes, and their "team" is pure as the driven snow.

Riiight, GOP Observer, and how many right-leaning sponsors dropped Rush prior to this latest slander? Few, if any. The Right has been getting a pass for decades by using the Bill of Rights as a fig leaf to cover their hatred, and the none of the GOP members of Congress or the candidates for POTUS had the cajones to denounce him: they keep doing these Stalin-esque style apologies, recanting their errors. Remember Chris Wallace after he called Bachmann a flake? Went on the internet the next day to tape an apology. No crude language, just called her a flake. Frankly she's a lot worse. Maher went way overboard, but he's not the de facto head of the GOP. Maher was not made an honorary member of the Congressional Class of 2006, and he's gone and defended Rush's right to speak. Please, keep a little perspective.
There is no measurement scale known to mankind that a division small enough to measure my indifference to this person and his so called use of Twitter.
