Rush Limbaugh joins Twitter

(CNN) – Rush Limbaugh, the conservative radio host who launched a firestorm earlier this month by calling a law student derogatory terms, joined Twitter Thursday.

Tweeting at the handle @Limbaugh, the host began his foray into the social networking site by sending out links to articles criticizing the liberal group Media Matters.

“Good story by @jeff_poor @DailyCaller. He gets it right, @mmfa wrong as usual. Read and Retweet.” The message linked to an article at the conservative website The Daily Caller.

On his radio program Thursday, Limbaugh explained his decision to start using his Twitter account.

“I've decided to actually activate it now and use it for strategic purposes since it has become such an effective means of informing people outside the bounds of this program,” Limbaugh explained.

He said the “retweet” function, which allows users to post another person’s message with one click, had the potential for “saturating the ‘Twitterverse.’”

One thing he won’t divulge on Twitter, however, are his meals.

“I'm not gonna be hanging on Twitter fifteen hours a day and tweeting, ‘I just had breakfast! I hope you have a wonderful day! Bye! Here's a picture of me eating some corn flakes!’ None of that stuff. You don't need to be worrying about that. No, it's just things I want people to see.”

As of Thursday evening, Limbaugh had amassed over 100,000 followers on the site.

Earlier this month Limbaugh generated a swirl of controversy after calling a law student who testified at a Democratic hearing on Capitol Hill a "slut" and a "prostitute." He later apologized to the student, but some of his advertisers and stations airing his program were quick to drop their support.

As a conservative, I'm embarrassed by Limbaugh! He "mis-speaks" only slightly less than Mitt Romney. But at least Romney has advisors show up in an attempt to clean up the mess he seems to leave wherever he speaks. Besides, is it possible for Limbaugh to limit himself to 140 characters? I'll finish with a saying I heard mr father use more than once (and it applies to both Limbaugh & Romney) "Make sure brain is engaged before putting mouth into gear".

Governor of Mass from 2003 to 2007.
Unemployment rate in Jan. 2003 was 5.6%

Here's a guy who raves about patriotism and accuses others of not being patriotic yet was a alleged draft dodger, rales about others morality yet an alleged former druggie and rails against innocent women and has been married 4 times. El Rusho is an El Fraudo who is the conservatives (?) prime minister of hate and discord and the really sad part their are sheep that thinks he speaks gospel. and rely on his every evil word.

The marketplace holds RL's fate. If the company he works for loses mega-millions because of him, he'll be gone.

When news outlets summarize what happened with Limbaugh's apology, they never seem to point out that he only apologized for the language. He did not apologize for the assertion that Sandra Fluke would have to be an incredibly promiscuous individual to advocate that insurance companies should provide coverage for birth control pills.

The fact remains, that job growth under Romney was inconsequential: Katrina saved MA from coming in dead last. I guess that defines competance

Honestly, when is this going to stop. When are we going to say enough. For more than two decades hate radio and tv have spread lies as truth, and rustled up enough fear and division to make us turn on each other. When does it stop? Or better yet, when are we going to say stop?

Not one Republican spoke ill of Rush Limbaugh. They are too busy courting him for his approval. I cannot believe these men do not think his remarks about women, any women, were anything but offensive. Both Santorum and Romney want us to believe they are very religious but their responses about Rush's diatribe were weak, very weak. Who are they afraid of offending?

I am sure there will those on Twitter who will be delighted to know they can Twitter him. IT seems as if there are many Americans who no longer value human decency.

Truth and Nothing but the Truth – quoting Wikipedia, hey? There's more to those job numbers of Romney's than is put up on Wikipedia. Maybe you should look at more than one internet source for your information. And you do know that anyone can change the information on Wikipedia to fit their agenda, right?

No statistical job growth in MA under Romney: he could not even keep pace with the state losing population. That explains why he ranks so low in job creation, and the unemplyment rate dropped slightly: people were leaving the state in record numbers.

You mean he wasn't already on Twitter? Anyone who gets off by saying stupid things knows that Twitter is the best way to do it! Look at Palin. This is classic, he'll now triple the rate at which he puts his foot in his mouth and kicks his own party in the peaches.

Truth, I did, and I looked up some other sources as well, including the WSJ. The numbers stand. Depopulation is what gave your boy his employment growth, not corporations relocating.

Yeah, Rush is just another lying Rep. We all know Dems are nice peaceful people who never lie, cheat, steal, etc. Because everyone knows that it is only one half of the politicians that are corrupt.

The sad part is...Dems actually believe that.

Truth and nothing but the truth is the perfect Republican machine. Just like so many of their policies, there is little substance and has a name that is exactly the opposite of what is actually provided.

I don't know any Dem who believes such a thing humtake. Dems actually take our peers to task – hence the reason Maher is no longer on commercial tv, the former governor of Illinois reported to prison yesterday, the former congressman from New York was run out of office after sending inappropriate images of himself to an underage girl, and the former congressman from Louisiana was indicted and convicted (much to the chagrin of the tightie righties who even went to far as to accuse the dems of racism for launching an investigation against him) after the Feds founds a wad of cash in his freezer.
