Abortion rights activists Etch A Sketch against Romney

Washington (CNN) - About 20 demonstrators with the National Abortion Rights Action League (NARAL) gathered outside a hotel where GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney planned fundraising remarks Thursday and used Etch A Sketch toys recently mentioned by the Romney campaign as part of their protest.

Senior Romney adviser Eric Fehrnstrom suggested on CNN's "Starting Point" Wednesday that a post-nomination Romney candidate could reset his campaign "almost like an Etch-a-Sketch – you can kind of shake it up, and we start all over again."

But demonstrators were using the Etch A Sketch to frame their disagreement with Romney over his proposal to end federal support for Planned Parenthood. "His anti-choice record and rhetoric will not disappear," said NARAL spokeswoman Erika West in prepared remarks.

Many in the group held pink Etch-a-Sketch toys and chanted their belief Romney should be held accountable for his position on reproductive rights that includes a proposal to end federal support for Planned Parenthood.

Romney was not seen arriving at the hotel entrance where the demonstration took place.

Yes, ladies, while you stand there and support the murder of the unborn, have you bought your Mother's Day card yet to remind your mother how much you love her for NOT killing YOU??? Think about it....

@Marcia Greenwood, IN – Mitt was a CEO. Dispite what many are saying, being President is not like being a CEO. I have worked closely with a number of CEO's. They are large and in-charge. Other than answering to the Board, more or less, they are the King or Queen within their organization. Almost everyone runs around stroking their ego, kissing their behinds, and avoiding ruffling their feathers. When a decision is made, a CEO can make it. The can listen to and accept or reject the advice and opinions of others as they please.

That is not the life of the POTUS. Thanks to the GOP massively expanding the use of filabusters and other obstructionist strategies and tactics, it has and will continue to get worse in that regard. Do you think that the people who are supposed to work with the CEO in a company would come out and openly state that their number one priority was to get rid of the CEO – not do what they were hired and are being paid to do. That is what McConnell, Boehner, Cantor, Ryan and company have been doing the last three years. Not putting "Country First".

Lies and nothing but lies, I'm a lib and all for the death penalty. Additionally, NOBODY is "pro-abortion". If that were the case, they would be demanding that ALL pregnancies be terminated and that just ain't happening. If birth control were easily accessable and tighty righties didn't lie to their children about birth control being totally unreliable, and if their children didn't follow that advice yet still continue to have sex (I won't mention any names), perhaps there wouldn't be so many out of wedlock pregnancies.

Lies and nothing but lies, NOBODY is pro-abortion. If they were these women would be screaming for ALL pregnancies to be terminated, and that just aint happening. Perhaps if more parents would educate their children about sex instead of just telling them that it's bad and that birth control us useless because it always fails, there wouldn't be a need for abortions.

"Mitt Romney is demonstrating that he doesn't handle a crisis very well. Just like with his tax returns, he ignores the problem and hopes it goes away."

Still on that "tax returns" issue I see. I get it, you don't like the guy. That's fine, I don't care for him either, but you've got to come up with a better reason than him not revealing his tax returns. It's not a requirement when running for President of the United States.

Myviewis, wwhy should an employer be allowed to impose their religious views on the rest of us? What if an employer (the only one for miles) demands that their employee TAKE birth control? Isn't that a violation of the employee's rights? Do you believe that employers shouldn't be required to cover male enhancement drugs or any other treatments they find objectionable, or is it only BC that you have a problem with? It's cheaper to provide birth control than to cover a pregnancy and helathcare for an additonal person.

I think that in today's times when women work, vote, can buy a home, stand on our own, the fight is no longer about Pro-Life or Pro-Choice but it has become about who Pays for it. The main argument here is make my boss pay for it, make my government pay for it. I hear more about $$$money than about the right of birth control or right to an abortion. Women want someone else to pay for it and so do husbands and boyfriends.

Fair, you should really get out there and do your part for the anti-choice crowd. You're way behind the curve and haven't adopted nearly enough unwanted children to justify your stance.

@Truth – "the death penalty for the unborn" "you stand there and support the murder of the unborn"

You have been revealed. Thanks for letting us know who you are. Do you support the death penalty? Do you support wars? If so, can you please show me the quailfier in "Thou shalt not kill" that allows such actions?

I once did some consulting at a woman's health clinic. The right to lifers used to show up all the time and harass the women coming in for healthy pregnancy checks, pre-natal vitamins, pap smears, and other general health services. Very few of the people they harassed were there to even discuss abortion and such services (very few at all) were provided in the evenings at other locations. These protesters were nasty people who just vented at the wrong individuals and didn't seem to care at all if they were.

I never said it was a requirement. I was pointing out that it was a petty crisis that he mishandled and totally botched. If he cannot handle the ridiculous talking points of the campaign trail, how can he handle a real crisis as POTUS. Romney's modus operandi seems to be to sit back and let it fix itself, just like letting the market forces sort itself out. Remember, he's a businessman, more specifically a salesman who sells capital.

@Malory Archer – I believe that an employer has a right to not pay for birth control or abortion whether the employer has a religious view about it or a financial view about it or just because the employer doesn't want to pay for it. An employer has the same freedom of choice as we women have with either using or not using birth control, having or not having an abortion. I don't think anyone should be made to pay for male enhancement drugs or any other treatments either. If a woman and a man can pay for everything else why not pay for this which is not an illness, a medical condition? Why is it so important for men and women to not pay out of their own pocket when they can pay for everything else like golf, football games, manicure, waxing, purses, etc...

Democrats/liberals/progressives have turned abortion into post conception birth control. Cheap and effective birth control is available in every corner of this country. Yet these people do not avail themselves of it and instead use abortion instead, so they can continue to live their irresponsible lives, and have more babies, that they kill and the cycle continues.

Under the Democrat/liberal/oprogressive interpretation of the constitution, all women should be required to purchase NO-BABY insurance to protect the rest of use from the cost of their reproductive/contraceptive mistakes.

The abortion is the most successful initiative the "Chamber of Commerce Republicans" ever conceived. When the fat-cats realized they could never win elections with votes coming only from the Rich, White, Greedy Men's Club they knew they had to expand their base. Hot button issues like gay marriage, guns, and trumped-up religious issues were the obvious key to capturing the angry white folks too poor to be in the "Club" and and too stupid to know they were being used. These issues were wonderful for people really only interested in money because they didn't cost the fat-cats anything and they energized the far right-wing. None of those issues worked better than the subject of abortion because it helped capture the fundamental religions who even today consider contraception evil. Fortunately, that extreme right-wing won't be enough to get Romney elected in the general election and the toothless will be left to play with their vaginal probes – a practice surely to be declared unconstitutional, even with a right-wing Supreme Court.

    ===============================================================================================
Abortion = The taking of an innocent life. No crime committed by the baby.
Death Penalty = Adult life taken. Usually reserved for only the most heinous of crimes. Usually many crimes committed.
War = Adults fighting for country or cause or friends beside them. Death may result.

All death is not created equal. Death by abortion is the killing of the most defenseless on the planet. If the baby was allowed to live and was murdered a day AFTER birth, the killer would be in jail for murder. Why do we not protect the most defenseless among us under the guise of "freedom of choice"? It is more like "freedom to murder" and nobody has that right.

All of these social arguments – gay marriage, abortion and contraception have one thing in common – S*X. The problem most of their opponents have is that they cannot stand the fact that someone else is having it. To Truth, Fair and your ilk, your misogynistic comments in the past make it clear that you fall under this umbrella. My advice is for you to figure out why women don’t like you and fix it instead of hating women for rejecting you

Well, I'm not thrilled about anyone being killed. But I'm comforted somewhat when I think of the 3,000 killed on 9/11 and their families being given some sense of justice.
