Ryan's open to V.P spot

Washington (CNN) – Republican Rep. Paul Ryan said he would “consider” serving in the No. 2 spot on the GOP presidential ticket in 2012.

But his response was surrounded by the obligatory “it’s not even something in my mind” and “I’m so focused on my job” lines.

“I would consider it but it’s not even something in my mind because it’s a decision someone else makes at a later time,” Ryan said Sunday on CBS’ “Face the Nation.” “It’s a bridge I haven’t gotten close to having to cross so in the meantime I think it’s important to do my job.”

Ryan has risen to national prominence in his role as chairman of the House Budget Committee, becoming the point person for the Republican Party on debt and spending.

The Wisconsin representative, who closed the door to a potential presidential bid of his own early in the 2012 cycle, also said Romney is "on his way" to capturing his party’s nomination. The two met on Capitol Hill Thursday.

“I don’t know if I’d say he’s got it wrapped up,” Ryan said on “Fox News Sunday.” “He’s clearly on his way. I think he’s becoming the prohibitive frontrunner and I think the sooner we coalesce around a nominee the better off we’ll be. The prize is November, not this summer. I think it’s coming together, but I’ll let the people of this country decide that.”

I am getting tired of Jerry posting that he is a life ling democrat. No democrat would embrace people who want to destroy the American worker, the middle class, seniors, and women's rights. Sorry Jerry, put the hood back on.

Ryan is a scumbag.Anything Ryan proposes is always one sided toward the rich and screw the little guy.If you a big business or a ceo of a firm im sure youll love him or one of the sheep that mindlessly follows the gop off the cliff. If the gop get in office all the safety nets americans have will be taken away and when you get sick or loose your job it will be the streets for you.The gop has shown its true colors the last couple years with how anti middleclass they are.Refusing to compramise for the better of our nation draging our credit rating down just so they can make there rich doners happy.God help us if we get a gop president with this congress, there will be no more middleclass left to push around.

He is the only one in DC with the courage to tackle the issues facing our nation. We should all hope that we can have an adult conversation about the challenges ahead.

How can a man with no empathy be the second man in charge of our country. He has no empathy for the poor and wants to cut medicaid, medicare, food for the poor, and pell grants for students in need to be able to attend college...all this to give more tax breaks to the 1%.

The GOP seems to want to alienate the entire electorate for some reason in 2012. The are losing the woman vote, the Latino vote, NEVER had the African-American vote nor GLBT vote and if they chose this ticket they will lose a lot of the senior citizen vote as well except for maybe the more wealthy ones. The other ones they see to try to come up with certain type new voter ID that some can not easily get to vote with.

If Paul "The Undertaker" Ryan is on the ticket, the GOBP will lose even worse than in 2008.

This is great, the Republicans replacing Palin with Ryan will give them the same results they got in 2008.

  12. vote the Tea Party OUT in 2012

the GOP of 2012 seems to have no problem with alienation of certain parts of the electorate. They are doing it to the women, Latinos, have ALWAYS done it to the African-American and GLBT voters and now risk doing it if they have this ticket to the senior citizen voter. How they expect to win with all this division I have no idea because the WASP male vote they seem to seek is not a very big part of the population.

I hope Romney does choose him as this would make the Presidential race a very distinctive choice between what is (extemist) right and what is the correct path for our country's future. Don't let his cute, innocent blue eyes fool you..............he is out to crush the middle class and make the rich the power class in America. Trust not this politician, he is a danger to the majority of Americans who work hard each day to try to stay above water and try to live a life without economic fear and loathing.

Just another ego, looking for a piece of high ground to rule over all he see's. If we (The People), don't wake up soon, we'll be the sorriest nation on earth, not even a shadow of our once great self we've boasted about for years.

women will vote iin massive numbers in 2012- republicans are threatening our right to health care- various state legislaltures have passed or will pass obscene bills that demean women.- the war on women is real and is being directed by the republican national committee– join us in defeating as many republicans as we can on every level in 2012- our lives are at risk if republicans are elected!

This guy's a typical tea party don't care about anybody but the rich Republican if anybody thinks otherwise they need to look no further than how his budget takes everything away from the elderly and poor and gives tax breaks to the rich. Do any of the people that believe these guys know why giving more money to rich is going to help anybody but the rich????

Paul Ryan, Sarah Palin, I love it. Keep throwing bones to the rabid right wing of your party and keep losing elections. They say that the definition of ignorance is to repeat the same behavior over and over and expect a different result. I'm not calling the GOP ignorant. Oh wait. Yes I am

What a tool !! Why not just make an announcement that says "hey guys, I'd really like this VP job & wanted you all to know it". If you look at his record, he's nothing more than a slimey opportunist who puts his personal wants before anybody else's actual needs. Senior citizens should be deathly afraid of this guy– seriously!

I wonder if the U.S. Bishops will ever publicly and consistently challenge and oppose Ryan's budget, since this moral document collides with so much Catholic Social Teaching. Will Ryan be the first Republican whose wrists are slapped by the Catholic Bishops, or will they, through their silence and timidity, continue to serve as an arm of the Republican Party? Come on, Bishops, have courage, and stand behind the morality of your economic principles.
