Gingrich campaign charges $50 for photos

(CNN) – Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich’s campaign tacked on a new fundraising effort Monday, charging supporters $50 a pop for anyone who wants a photo with the former House speaker.

“Some campaigns make you travel all the way to Wall Street to pay $2,500 for a photo with a candidate,” campaign spokesman R.C. Hammond said in a statement. “We chose to do it differently and ask our supporters for a nominal donation.”

Gingrich campaigned in Delaware on Monday, continuing his march to collect more delegates in the Republican presidential nominating contest. The state holds its primary on April 24.

The new photo charge comes one week after numbers released by the campaign showed the candidate spent about $200,000 more in February than he raised, and carries about as much debt as cash on hand.

His fundraising haul of $2.6 million for the month marked a big drop from January, when he took in $5.6 million.

“We also have an online store where supporters can buy hats, shirts and even a bandana for your dog,” Hammond said.

Perhaps they could also sell condoms with his face on them as well. that would be a form of birth control too. But then Santorum would declare them illegal, and we'd have more bad blood there... so never mind. But seriously, is this how he demonstrates how he will balance the national budget? Perhaps it was all Bill Clinton afterall.

Ick. The idea of paying a human being (though we are talking about politicians here, so maybe calling them human is a bit generous) to deign to pose for a picture with you is just abhorrent. (And it also somehow seems unAmerican for a pol to charge supporters to pay for this so-called privilege, even though it is a perfect example of excessive capitalism and greed.) Even celebrities don't do that. Newt Gingrich would have to pay ME to appear in a pic with me! Only when these guys are wax figures at Madam Tussaud's should people pay to take a picture with them... ick.

Who in the hell would want a photo of this or any of the other GOP circus clowns? They are ugly, and hate-filled liars, who wish us nothing but harm in order to keep their wealthy benefactors happy. Ugh!
    Obama 2012. Seriously America.

Oh Newtster you are getting so desperate aren't you? You poor thing. Mittens is trying to steal the White House right from under you. But you deserve it not him or that Muslim that currently occupies it. (Rolling my eyes) This guy would be funny if he wasn't so pathetic. How is he even a candidate? This adulterer that led the march against Clinton? With his adulteree at his side. If President Obama had done the same thing, he would never have made it this far.

I could take a pile of day old dough, but put an dirty old white mop on it, accent two beady eyes, fashion a lying forked tongue from a piece of baloney and save myself $50.00; monies that I can use to buy 20 gallons of gas as promised by Cotton Hill Gingrich.
