Palin congratulates Santorum over 'bulls-' remark

(CNN) – Sarah Palin heaped praise on Rick Santorum after the Republican presidential candidate accused a reporter of "bulls-" questioning over the weekend.

The former 2008 GOP vice presidential candidate said the exchange showed strength.

"It was good and it was strong and it was about time because he's saying enough is enough of the liberal media twisting conservative's words," Palin said on Fox News late Monday night. "I was like welcome to my world Rick. And good on ya, don't retreat."

Santorum engaged in a heated exchange with The New York Times' Jeff Zeleny Sunday night when the reporter asked Santorum about his earlier comment that Romney was "the worst Republican in the country to put up against Barack Obama," in reference to health care. An angry Santorum said "quit distorting my words … It's bulls-."

The former Pennsylvania senator later told CNN's Wolf Blitzer on CNN's "The Situation Room," "If you're a conservative and you haven't taken on a New York Times reporter you're not worth your salt as far as I'm concerned."

Palin echoed the sentiments, calling Zeleny a "liberal leftist in the tank for Obama."

"I was glad that he called out this reporter," Palin said. "He and the other candidates, all of them, they need to do more of this because believe me the American people are tired of what the leftist media continues to do to conservatives."

When asked if a nominee Santorum could be a reality, the former Alaska governor said "anything is possible."

Oh really, who's slinging the BS here? If you do a little bit of checking, it's pretty clear that Jeff Zeleny never published any lies or distortions, he was merely doing his job by seeking a little clarification about an incendiary phrase that Santorum had actually used in his speech. Santorum is defending his outburst by complaining that he had already been asked about it a few times by the time he got to Zeleny, but what does he expect after saying something like that? Reporters are bound to want to do some follow-up work. If you can't handle a relatively harmless situation like that with a little civility, and maybe even view it as an opportunity to reiterate the point you were trying to make rather than reacting as if someone were trying to attack you, I'm not so sure you're ready to be POTUS. It's a good point by the way. Romney really doesn't have much of a leg to stand on when it comes to criticizing Obama on health care, and Santorum should be pleased with the media every time they present him with another chance to talk about that instead of lashing out at them. But it's no wonder that Palin would want to praise a defensively angry reaction to questions from reporters. I'm sure that in her mind, every question is a gotcha-question. Crying about how the "liberal media" is out to get you every time you have to deal with the press is not a sign of strength, though.

  4. Grrr!

Those dang reporters and their gotcha (people wanna hear this explained) questions. How dare they use Rick's own words! Candidates shouldn't be asked for clarifications, explanations or stances. We want idiot candidates who regurgitate nonsense and political catch phrases who are never held accountable and have nothing intelligent to offer.

  7. Wake up people

The rethugs can dish it out but they can't take it. Think of all the BS they said about President Obama when he joined the race. My goodness how they vilified him for everything. From his race to him not being a citizen. I even remember one time he was looking down while taking the steps they accused him of looking up a womans dress. Who doesn't look down when taking the steps? Wailin Palin and psycho Santorum are two of a kind, and neither should ever be within 500 yards of the White House.

    OBAMA 2012!

Why does CNN and other media insist on giving the mentally infirm news coverage? Read "Game Change" where one of Palin's former pres. campaign advisors was astounded she NEVER HEARD of the Federal Reserve or that there are two Koreas. Yet she remains the darling of the Grand Oil Party that celebrates ignorance and lack of intellect. Yes, the more simple-minded the better candidate!

Why does anyone care what Palin thinks? She is hardly relevant and in my opinion, a future talk show host at best.

Hey I kind of like the idea of "Stupid Solidarity." One of the absolutely dumbest people to ever run for Vice President (yeah, I hear the Dan Quayle fans clamoring) sticking up for one of the dumbest people to ever run for President (yeah, I hear Dubya fans clamoring) after his very UN-presidential meltdown. Stupid people need friends too!
