Key congressman questions generals' testimony

(CNN) – The Republican congressman who chairs the House Budget Committee questioned Thursday whether top military officers truly support the Pentagon budget, which includes significant cuts to some programs. The officers were testifying about the budget on Capitol Hill.

"We don't think the generals are giving us their true advice. We don't think the generals believe that their budget is really the right budget," said Rep. Paul Ryan, R-Wisconsin. "What we get from the Pentagon is a budget-driven strategy not a strategy-driven budget."

What is Paul "Save the millionaires" Ryan up to now? He's already thrown seniors under the bus, now he wants to increase the bloated defense budget to help out the Rs military-industrial complex buddies?

You can try and spin it all you want Paul, but your budget still sucks! There is so much wasteful spending in the Pentagon, it doesn't make any sense. I've seen it firsthand. Forget about all the outdated weapons systems. You have to take into account everything. Everything from BAQ, DLA, BAS, HDP, etc. They can certainly afford the cuts that have been made. Not to mention that we're not spending a billion dollars a day in Iraq.

Obama wants the military cut and he's the commander in chief. They are doing what they do best, following orders. Can you imagine what Obama will do with "more flexibility"???

Did Ryan just accuse the generals of lying? Ryan needs to be recalled by the voters of WI.

Bravo Representative Ryan! Bravo!I am completely impressed with the job you do for us in Washington. So much in the last 3 years has been driven completely by political advisers and it's not fun to watch. You cut through the smoke and mirrors and just do the job we sent you there to do. It is refreshing against the awful mess the Obama Administration has made of our federal government.

So he's say the generals are lying? What happened to the "listen to the generals on the ground" talk? The GOP is just playing more political games.

Not a good stand to go up against generals that know how to do their jobs. Paul should remember what his own job is.

Can you imagine the IQ of any right wingnut who thinks the the Bush republican economic meltdown? Republican presidents are responsible for $12 trillion of our debt. Republicans are responsible for our down grade, two unfunded wars, and TARP.

Pauls plan includes drastic cuts to veterans. This tells me his is not for our defense of this country..

This budget does not sustain the middle class. It does not help to lift up the working poor. Perhaps if you are a person who is only interested in what can be done for you this budget would be acceptable. Mr. Ryan cannot possible be an expert on all things yet he makes statements that tell you he is.

We need to work together rather than work by Party lines only. When did cooperation become a dirty word? Our children are taught that cooperation is good and results in making things better. Some in the GOP missed that part of their schooling.

If Ryan is such a military expert, it is time for him to go to Afghanistan and fight the Taliban.

So, not only does Ryan call the Generals liars, he is trying to pit them against their Commander in Chief.
How low will the Tea Party aka Republicans go? To the bottom of the slush pit and then some.
How dare this twit shoot off his mouth to the people who do a better job than he ever has done, and
deserve respect and trust a lot more than he does. Good grief, Ryan, get some class and decorum.

Typical GOBP hypocrisy: Scream about how DC needs to "listen to the generals"....until they hear the generals say something they don't like. So instead they stomp their little feeties and shake their tiny fists, the poutrage etched on their angry little faces, while they throw yet another tantrum.

Where did Ryan get his "Generals" training, from the Social Security checks that sent him to college. I'm just asking.

As a veteran of 34 years I'm offended by Congressman Ryan even talking about military matters. This slimy weasel has no right to question the integrity and capabilities of our military leadership. I'd pay $5000 dollars for the opportunity to kick this POS in the nads – really hard. He soils the whole warfighter concept with his preppie comments. The kick would be good for him as well.
