Romney quips on lotto

Fond du Lac, Wisconsin (CNN) - Mitt Romney won't join the millions betting on a lucky Mega Millions ticket, but that didn't stop him from speculating about another possible participant.

At a quick stop at a Fond du Lac diner, the GOP candidate was asked if he would vie for the sky-high payout in the lotto contest.

Romney demurred but he did unleash a zinger directed at his rival Newt Gingrich's billionaire benefactor, casino magnate Sheldon Adelson.

"I understand that Sheldon Adelson has bought some tickets," Romney quipped to reporters in Schreiner's Restaurant.

Adelson and his family have contributed over 16 million to the super PAC supportive of Gingrich's campaign.

The former Massachusetts governor, who purchased four slices of cherry pie from restaurant owner Paul Cunningham for himself and some staffers, was accompanied by his new supporter, Rep. Paul Ryan.

Ryan said he had frequented the restaurant as a child and gave Romney some local tips.

In the kitchen, Romney asked a chef with a saute pan: "Is that perch or whitefish?"

Ryan explained the so-called "poor man's lobster" dish was actually haddock.

Romney also batted down a diner's question about his vice presidential potentials - though he planned to spend the weekend campaigning alongside one man whose name strategists have mentioned.

"I'm not presumptuous enough because I'm not - I'm not the nominee yet. So until then, I'm not going to think about it," Romney said, then gestured to Ryan nearby. "You got Paul Ryan over there. He wants to say hi I'm sure."

I would rather vote for some one that made millions then vote for someone that spends trillions.

This is a man who is afraid of taking a chance. He would make a very poor military leader.

A Republican candidate so rich he doesn't bothere with a half billion dollar lottery. What a surprise. Then again, Republicans have always preferred sure things, like screwing the middle class and poor then telling them that giving middle class and poor peoples money to the ultra-rich is good fiscal planning.

Romney's new buddy Paul Ryan is poised to balance the budget on the backs of the American workers by cutting Social Security, Medicare and Education while allowing the 1 percent to continue the reduced tax advantages since the Bush tax for wealthy cuts.

"I would rather vote for some one that made millions then vote for someone that spends trillions."

Nice summary of the LSD groupies' mindset. You repeatedly, and with no evidence, claim that a person who's made millions is somehow automatically qualified to run our nation. What a ridiculous thought.

Most lotteries are regressive forms of taxation. The poor and middle class buy the tickets with the dream of a better life. Thus, they pay "taxes" (buy tickets) so that Mitt and the other wealthy people can pay less in taxes. Kinda like "redistribution of wealth"-the poor subsidizing the rich.

It would give him terrible publicity if he won the lottery. People were angry just few weeks ago when some well-to-do group won a lottery. Probably would spell disaster for the presidency, unless he would just donate every penny to something, and than it would alienate people against that charity. No matter how you look at it, it's a lose-lose. He doesn't need the extra 100 mil – he can make it working, and it would ruin his presidential hopes if he won.

Romney could at least give advice on how to avoid paying taxes on the mutlimillion dollar payout. The 1% has tax avoidance down to an art form.

Romney would have to pay more tax on those lottery winnings than he has paid total in the last 10 years.

He doesn't need it. He knows if he were to buy or even win the lottery, whole world would call him greedy. He has enough money to live rich lifestyle for several generations. Besides he knows if he gets in the White house he will make billions with side deals from the war profiteers and wall street thugs and bullies depositing in his Cayman accounts.

If you really want to know more about the mormon church why not listen to those who lead and guide it, the LDS General Conference is on local television and streaming on, We are Christians, if you truly know a member of the church you would not doubt that fact.
