Fond du Lac, Wisconsin (CNN) - Mitt Romney won't join the millions betting on a lucky Mega Millions ticket, but that didn't stop him from speculating about another possible participant.
At a quick stop at a Fond du Lac diner, the GOP candidate was asked if he would vie for the sky-high payout in the lotto contest.

Romney demurred but he did unleash a zinger directed at his rival Newt Gingrich's billionaire benefactor, casino magnate Sheldon Adelson.
"I understand that Sheldon Adelson has bought some tickets," Romney quipped to reporters in Schreiner's Restaurant.
Adelson and his family have contributed over 16 million to the super PAC supportive of Gingrich's campaign.
The former Massachusetts governor, who purchased four slices of cherry pie from restaurant owner Paul Cunningham for himself and some staffers, was accompanied by his new supporter, Rep. Paul Ryan.
Ryan said he had frequented the restaurant as a child and gave Romney some local tips.
In the kitchen, Romney asked a chef with a saute pan: "Is that perch or whitefish?"
Ryan explained the so-called "poor man's lobster" dish was actually haddock.
Romney also batted down a diner's question about his vice presidential potentials - though he planned to spend the weekend campaigning alongside one man whose name strategists have mentioned.
"I'm not presumptuous enough because I'm not - I'm not the nominee yet. So until then, I'm not going to think about it," Romney said, then gestured to Ryan nearby. "You got Paul Ryan over there. He wants to say hi I'm sure."

Looks like there are a lot of envious people commenting on this story.
I guess every state worker has won the lottery. They collect their pensions and health care at taxpayers expense. What criminals haha
Romney wants to be president because he is rich and he thinks that it is his to have. He is not equipped to take on this job. He would tackle it the same way that he did in destroying jobs and lives of many. He is like Cheney, he has no hearat or feelings. He wants to do away with Obamacare. If he did not have money, how would he have paid for all of his wife's health issues.
It is beginning to look like a Romney/Ryan ticket for 2012.
Mr 1% and Mr. 1% Jr. who wants to give more to the 1% by letting more of the 99% die prematurely!
Wow you liberals sound jealous of someone who is successful. Go get jobs and get out of your parent's basements.
Ryan is sure to be the VP nominee, if the GOP establishment uses the deep, analytical, and logical decision making process they used in '08.
He IS pretty.
Just do everybody a favor in November and vote Democratic! Don't take another chance on another republican administration! Just keep in mind what GWB did to this country!
Under the Ryan budget, the capital gains tax and the AMT would both be eliminated. Under this plan, Mitt Romney and the others in his league would pay a net total of ZERO income taxes. Meanwhile, Medicare would be reduced to a specific dollar voucher, and if that isn't enough, too bad. Doesn't that sound like a great system to you?

You're right people that work for the government should never get a pension plan...ever! How dare they deem themselves worthy of one?! Preposterous I tell you! Absolutely preposterous!
mitt won the lottery at bains when he walked away with employees pensions and sent the jobs to china ,then thanks to the republicans got the money from the federal goverment to pay for the cost off moving to china
Romney said "460 million lump sum? That's just not that much money to me and my friends...."
