Obama attacks GOP budget proposal

Washington (CNN) - President Barack Obama launched a major assault Tuesday on the House-passed Republican budget proposal embraced by front-running GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney, calling it "social Darwinism" that would stifle the American dream.

In a speech to a media luncheon, Obama described the measure prepared by House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan, R-Wisconsin, and passed by the House as a "Trojan Horse" that is disguised as a deficit reduction plan but actually imposes a "radical vision."

@Four – I think YOU missed the idea. *Fixing* medicare does not happen by eliminating the folks from it that it was designed to protect. ACA – did that, by forcing the wealthy Pharma lobby into coverring them. That WOULD fix Medicare as it would no longer be needed. But of course the GOP does not endorse that as it cuts into the Pharma's profit margins by having to cover those who used to be on Medicare.. and we all know the GOP serves their masters, right?

At least by embracing the Ryan plan, the GOP is coming clean about what they are about, namely:
    * building a permanant, poor underclass
    * discrimination on healthcare based upon income
    * throwing the poor, elderly poor and disabled under the bus (solid Christian values there)
    * redistributing wealth by continuing tax breaks for the richest 1%, while effectively raising taxes on the poor and middle class
    * ending federal programs and agencies that support the poor and middle class
    * enshrining permanent debt and deficit by refusing to repeal the Bush tax cuts (All GOP canidates budget plans increase the debt.)

No one should vote GOP- unless they are in the 1%. To do so otherwise is to vote against your own self-interest.

@Doubling down on Socialism – it WAS political theater.. as is RYAN's BUDGET. It's all posturing.. same as goes on here a lot. Neither party has produced a WORKABLE budget in years. Thanks to the GOP, we have political STALEMATE in DC. Anyone who believes other wise is living in some dream fog.
We have a SERIOUS leader right now.. problem is the right refuses to work with him and is grandstanding to ensure he's a single term President. That has been their whole focus for the last 3 yrs.
Ryans' budget is a joke. It's full of the same sentimental *tax break for all* garbage that the right wants you to eat, when really it's a tax break for the wealthy. It's as believable as Cain's 9-9-9 plan. What they fail to mention is how it will be paid for. Tax cuts sound great. Make great soubnd bites, problem being that cutting taxes REDUCES Govt revenue. If my taxes go down 20% where is the REVENUE LOSS being made up?
Where's the Conservative fiscal responsiblity in that? This budget is no more realistic and is all about political grandstanding. It's an ELECTION year after all. Entertainment all round LOL

Ryan’s Budget would CUT this economy and the current recovery into oblivion. The Republicans would continue the policies of Bush & Co. with continued tax cuts for the top end and destroy any potential for the middle class working people who are on the ragged edge now.
What is Obama offering the working people? Mitt Romney is offering a 20% tax cut. For everyone. This will be a huge help for those income earners who now work 107 days to pay for Obama's spending.

But what would they see from a second Obama term? Expect to see taxes go up. There is plenty of spending the federal government can come up with. Obama has already suggested tax hikes on lower income earners. It will be paying their " Fair Share". As if 107 days isn't enough already.
