West open to VP possibility

(CNN) - Republican Rep. Allen West of Florida would consider joining the ticket with the Republican nominee this fall if asked, the congressman said Friday.

"(My family) has always stepped up to the plate to serve our country, and if it's the right thing, then I will do so. But I really doubt that would ever happen," West said on CNN's "Newsroom."

The idea of a Romney-West ticket was floated earlier this week by former vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin.

Her sentiments were echoed by South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, who has repeatedly shot down the idea of being a 2012 runningmate, herself.

Oh please! The man's temperament is horrendous. He lacks civility. He is just plain rude. If Romney has any sense, he will steer clear of Alan West. OMG, how frightening.

Allen West as VP? Now that's a good joke. That guy has been smoking some strong stuff if he finds himself anywhere near dreaming about a VP position. He is so bad that Sarah Palin, who wouldn't stand a chance against Obama, would easily beat out West.

I believe Alan West or Herman Cain either one would make an excellant VP or PRESIDENT,Obamas race card would be destroyed.Either one could pass for ELLIOT NESS and clean up these Chicago HOODLums.

Joi Gibson – Well stated, I couldn't of put it any better myself! West is an arrogant clown that has no business in political life, particularly the way he handled himself in Iraq and has handled himself in Congress.

@kimberly, you are the purrrrrffffffeeeeect example of a democrat voter. I will attempt your education. Obama was a 1 term senator before becoming president, and he spent more than half that time campaigning for president. Try looking up a fact before you embarass yourself more than the ordinary democrat voters on here do.

The guy is not even going to win re-election in his own puny district and he thinks he can win on the national stage?

When McCain ran in 2008, he did not do a quality background check on Sarah Palin, and the Republican Party and the nation has paid a nasty price for McCain's recklessness.

If Romney does a decent job of vetting Allen West, he will learn that West is a hot-head who spouts off divisive statements. BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY, Romney will learn that West was charged, fined, and forced out of the military because of his refusal to acknowledge his reckless handling of prisoners in Taji, Iraq.

Please pick him. I see another Game Change book coming. I thought the Repbulicans learned after the Sarah Palin fiasco. Not remotely qualified.

Hahahahahaha. No wonder this idea was floated by Sarah Palin. Made the guy do some self-gratification I am sure.

Oh please!!! This guys even crazier and less informed than little Ricky!! He's not even as good of a choice as Half Gov. Palin, and that's saying something. But then again if Mittens really wants to insure his loss, maybe even bigger than Goldwater, then by all means, name West as you VP. There seems to be no end to the GOP clown car.

Of course since he had his men beat an Iraqi policemen and then fired his gun in the direction of his head, that goes along well the GOP's idea of interrogation. I am still waiting for Dick Cheney to be waterboarded and then have him say it isn't torture.
