Grassley calls Obama 'stupid' on Twitter

(CNN) – Republican Sen. Chuck Grassley of Iowa, who has long been an outspoken critic of President Barack Obama, used scathing language in a tweet Saturday to condemn the president's remarks about the Supreme Court last week.

"Constituents askd why i am not outraged at PresO attack on supreme court independence. Bcause Am ppl r not stupid as this x prof of con law," Grassley wrote, using typical shorthand for the social networking website.

Responding to the message, Obama campaign senior strategist David Axelrod, himself a prolific tweeter who often engages critics of the president, blasted the Iowa senator.

"Heads up, Sen. Grassley. I think a 6-year-old hijacked your account and is sending out foolish Tweets just to embarrass you!" Axelrod wrote.

Obama last Monday was asked about measures his administration was taking in the event the United States Supreme Court determines his health care law is unconstitutional. The high court heard oral arguments on the law in late March. Obama said such a decision would be "unprecedented."

"I'm confident that the Supreme Court will not take what would be an unprecedented, extraordinary step of overturning a law that was passed by a strong majority of a democratically elected Congress," the president said.

Simply put the President is a well intentioned but poor leader/manager totally out of his element trying to run a government. Poor decisions on energy, the fiasco with the catholic church, stupid "investments" in green energy, out of control gsa conventions, the list is endless. A Leader would bring congress together and pass a budget, he can't even do that and points political fingers at the republicans instead of taking a leadership role and getting things done. America needs Leadership not pandering to environmental groups and we need it SOON.

Hey PresO may be an idiot but he's the PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and you are a SENATOR! Do you remember when that meant something? You're disrespectful and a discredit to your office. You do nothing to help civilized discourse in our divided nation. Good luck on you're next election pinhead. You are a rude, unthinking moron yourself.

I am an Obama supporter, and I couldn't disagree more with Senator Grassley. I know that many Democrats called Bush stupid when he was the President, but I am not sure if any senators did so publicly. No matter, if one of them had done so, I would have been happy about it. So I think that it's OK for him to do this, but I am not sure that it is a wise move.

Obama is not stupid; a liar yes, and he knows what to say to perk up his base. His base, however, is not made up of the sharpest knives in the drawer. We have to boot this guy out of the White House.

That statement in a nutshell is how the republicans are supporting our country. Petty name calling and childish behavior. It is disgusting and immature.

These repubs are masters of moving from the important topics and switching to comics headlines, just to draw the American main focus of 30 million plus people left on the sidewalk without no insurance. This will not last repubs . because when folks premiums start to skyrocket, while other folks will be left on the side walk dying, someone will notice. Its ironic that the party who love to bash liberal judges, have the Gaul to accuse the president of criticizing conservitive judges, is this a dream. Someone please wake me up!

Only, only in this country can a citizen may call a sitting President of the Free World stupid & gets away with it. Sometimes I ask myself is it because President Obama is African American? Assuming you hate the Guy with passion, how about respecting the Office of his presidency. The world is not as primitive as its used to be. Due to information highway, any comment you made in United States, somebody in Africa will see it
It's embarrassing!!!!! Other nations loved this country with passion but now their love turned into hate because of the way we treat each other. Disagree respectfully. That was part of the original culture of this Land of Free. The world is watching attentively!!""""

Thank you Senator Grassley for calling it like it is. David Axelrod should crawl back to that rock he lived under in Chicago. The President regularly treats the American people as stupid, like sheep he is leading to slaughter. This President doesn't get defensive, he attacks especially when he wants to obfuscate any issue to confuse the peons who were blinded by his false promises. Congratulations to our Divider in Chief...

Repubs, get real..we all kniw GWB stole the Election fo 2000 so he and his dad and his dad's buddies could pack the court with ditto heads like themselves and did. There has never been a more politically orientated court since just before the civil war and its Republican doing.. Justice died when Bush stole the election and was buried when that crooney of his was made Cheif Justice... at present the Surpreme Court of the United States is an offshoot of the RNC and it needs to be attacked.

I'm definitely no fan of Obama's politics, but he definitely IS NOT stupid. In consideration of his comments in regards to the SCOTUS, you could, however, make the case that he "acted stupidly".

If calling the President stupid is some how disrespects the office of POTUS, then we should get rid of all free speech. GWB was mocked, effigges were hanged, relentlessly called stupid by every one in the MSM. None of you had any problems with disrespecting the office of POTUS then. U r all a bunch of hypocrites and love free speech as long as it is your speech.

Obama has lied, been disrespectful to the American people, politicize and divided this country more than ever. Now, seeing his policies fail, he lashes out and blames everyone else but himself, distract fr the real issues like the economy, unemployment with issues like contraception b/c the people that fall for this are idiots just like him. Now he lashes out at SCOTUS to try to intimidate and threaten them about his signature legislation. Something in of itself that is disrespectful to the office of POTUS! It is a lie for Obama to say SCOTUS cannot overturn any legislation if it goes against the consitution. Only ones to believe the President on this (& most of what he says), are the stupid & ignorant.
It is such a typical liberal mentality. Never take responsiblity for yourself. It is always someone elses fault.

Constituents, especially Independents, I don't understand your thinking. Yes, Obama was not the greatest leader and yes he didn't live up to his promises. This election is a make or break election for this country. I really feel bad for those that still don't have a job, but I will tell you up front I don't feel bad for those that don't have a job but vote a right wing nut job party that swears by the values of the Tea Party. I understand your concerns, but I believe the alternatives to Obama are far worse than what you think. The candidates running on the GOP ticket are extreme, hypocritical, and out of touch with mainstream America. Additionally, they started an unnecessary war on women's reproductive and in my eyes their civil rights; all because they have nothing else to argue about. They have no solid bill for rebuilding this economy, no plan for health care, no plan for anything. All they want to do is cut here, cu there, and cut everywhere. The GOP has lost its class and its legitimacy, it has turned so conservative even Ronald Reagan will be considered to liberal. If you want to see the outcome of what spending cuts look like, go to Greece, Portugal, and Spain. If you want the country to go back 100 years, similar to the way Greece has gone back in time, vote Republican. A word of warning, no one will feel sorry for you when you are standing in line at a food kitchen to feed your family.

I don't know that I can get that upset at the name calling. After all during the 2010 election cycle Obama referred to anyone who didn't drink his brand of kool-aid as The Enemy. Compared to that I think Senator Grassley took pretty much the high road. No Red States, No Blue States, only the United States, anyone remember that famous line?

As America's wisest half-wit once said, stupid is as stupid does, and just about everything Obama has done falls into the "stupid does" category.

Obamacare? Cramming an insanely expensive program down the throats of Americans who didn't like it even before they discovered the magnitude of the lies they were told about it, and is now about to be declared unconstitutional, something the self-styled "Constitutional scholar" in the Oval Office should have known was coming. Or, if he didn't, it's just more evidence of the original charge of stupidity.

Solyndra? Nothing more needs be said about that.

Cap and trade? Another insanely expensive proposal based on, charitably, a "science" in it's infancy and, more precisely, one oft he greatest attempted frauds in human history.

    And so on.

At every point, Obama has "thought" with his ideology rather than his brain and since the ideology of the Left consists mostly of wishful thinking, the results have been poor.

It does not matter who you support or your political afflilation it is totally disrepectful and shows how ignorant you are. The only reason you so totally disrespect the president of the U.S. is because he is a black men and some of you think that does not deserve the respect of the position. That is why there is still a racial divide in this country, because of people lile Senator Grasseley who needs to show respect and the Supreme Court needs to start voting and not so much on party lines. When this is realized, this country would be a better place for all of the people.

Just another shot in the GOP's never ending campaign to delegitimize the President. They can't WIN the presidency so they do every thing they can to cut him off at the knees and make him less effective. Guess what, GOP, a weak President in a time of crisis makes that crisis worse! Your foolishness is hurting the American people. That makes you not only disrespectful, but it also makes you a bunch of traitors!
