Grassley calls Obama 'stupid' on Twitter

(CNN) – Republican Sen. Chuck Grassley of Iowa, who has long been an outspoken critic of President Barack Obama, used scathing language in a tweet Saturday to condemn the president's remarks about the Supreme Court last week.

"Constituents askd why i am not outraged at PresO attack on supreme court independence. Bcause Am ppl r not stupid as this x prof of con law," Grassley wrote, using typical shorthand for the social networking website.

Responding to the message, Obama campaign senior strategist David Axelrod, himself a prolific tweeter who often engages critics of the president, blasted the Iowa senator.

"Heads up, Sen. Grassley. I think a 6-year-old hijacked your account and is sending out foolish Tweets just to embarrass you!" Axelrod wrote.

Obama last Monday was asked about measures his administration was taking in the event the United States Supreme Court determines his health care law is unconstitutional. The high court heard oral arguments on the law in late March. Obama said such a decision would be "unprecedented."

"I'm confident that the Supreme Court will not take what would be an unprecedented, extraordinary step of overturning a law that was passed by a strong majority of a democratically elected Congress," the president said.

Betrayal is the worst thing that can happen to a person, short of losing a loved one. And the avoidance of feeling betrayed is what keeps so many people voting Republican, even though history has shown that Republican economic, military and foreign policies are PROVEN FAILURES.

Grassley, the GOP and all their lackeys resort to desperate measures such as calling President Obama "stupid," all objective evidence to the contrary, because that's all they've got – and they're counting on enough voters to choose denial about the GOP's true intentions over dealing with the awful truth that the GOP has betrayed them and our country.

So sad when people loses respect to authorities. This guy feels like he is so brave because he has the power to insult. Shame on him. That's what we deserve for voting for such people to 'represent' us. Shame on you old man

As has become the MO for all Republicans, Grassley will soon announce he misspoke and apologize if anyone was offended. It is what Republicans spend a good part of their day doing.

Give Obama credit here. Now every decision out of the 5th circuit will appear political in nature. Obama should have told them jump up his buttocks based on Executive Previlige. Funny the courts courts couldn't get info on Valeria Plame and breaking the law, yet a Judge can order a reply on political debate. The courts lose more creditablity.

How does disliking obamas comments to the supreme court turn into grassly is a racist. So any criticism of obama means a person is racist? The guy personally ruining the country and thanks to clinton who mandated home loans to anyone with a signature, we have democrats to blame for this entire mess.

When an elected official like Grassley call Pres. Obama stupid, the leader of the most powerful country in the world, do you wonder why civility and respect in the US has gone to the dogs? I think people like Grassley should be thrown out of politics right back in the gutter that they came from. He has no respect!!!

Ofcourse an Ivy League graduate has to be stupid. On the other hand, someone like Sarah Palin who took 7 years to graduate from a no name university would be considered smart.

I spent time in Iowa. There used to be joke about the only state in the US with a senator dumber than Chuck Grassley (Roger Jepson was the other one at the time).

I think Mr Grassley has it all wrong. It's the American people that are stupid. When we understand that the only way out of this is a 3rd party candidate, then we will be okay.

    Stay Classy Grassley!

Charles Grassley is a proven liar, which is probably what makes him so popular with Republicans.

Grassley is of course the stupid one, but that's not a revelation. At least I've been aware of it for years. We have so few qualifications needed to run for Congress. Beyond age, citizenship, and party, there seems to be nothing that would help us get people in Congress with brains. You see, at the time of the Founding Fathers, only propertied men were allowed to vote, and thus run for office, and one of the reasons for this was that it was understood that propertied men would be educated. Our early leaders were indeed educated and it is difficult to read of a stupid one. They certainly had their foibles and problems, but stupidity was usually not among those. Today, it is difficult to determine whether we have even a majority of Congressional people who are moderately intelligent. One of the problems we face in a democratic country, and yet Jefferson said it that it takes an educated electorate to have a democracy. Leaving us in a conundrum these days. The only bright light today is that we happen to have an unusually intelligent president.

Is this guy for real? I can't even take him seriously. I had to read the statement twice just to get past his poor spelling and grammar. He completely discredited himself by allowing that filth to penetrate the internet. Testing standards must have been before his time...

No problem with what Obama said. Republicans yack on and on about "unelected" judges, unless of course the decisions are in favor of conservative dogma.

Well I just watched a focus group from Iowa, on Meet the Press, responding to the query of whether or not they believe Pres Obama is a Muslim and over half of them raised their hands. I think Mr Grassley has enough "stupid" in his own yard he needs to worry about.
