Grassley calls Obama 'stupid' on Twitter

(CNN) – Republican Sen. Chuck Grassley of Iowa, who has long been an outspoken critic of President Barack Obama, used scathing language in a tweet Saturday to condemn the president's remarks about the Supreme Court last week.

"Constituents askd why i am not outraged at PresO attack on supreme court independence. Bcause Am ppl r not stupid as this x prof of con law," Grassley wrote, using typical shorthand for the social networking website.

Responding to the message, Obama campaign senior strategist David Axelrod, himself a prolific tweeter who often engages critics of the president, blasted the Iowa senator.

"Heads up, Sen. Grassley. I think a 6-year-old hijacked your account and is sending out foolish Tweets just to embarrass you!" Axelrod wrote.

Obama last Monday was asked about measures his administration was taking in the event the United States Supreme Court determines his health care law is unconstitutional. The high court heard oral arguments on the law in late March. Obama said such a decision would be "unprecedented."

"I'm confident that the Supreme Court will not take what would be an unprecedented, extraordinary step of overturning a law that was passed by a strong majority of a democratically elected Congress," the president said.

Many people on the left have no idea what the DEM party has in store for them because THEY are too stupid to understand. They embrace proven European FAILED policies and WANT that for themselves. They are lazy and want everything given to them. When you give up freedom to choose for yourself you place yourself and others on a downward spiral. DEMs are communists and socialists and Marxists. The left has not done enough research (lazy) to know that these forms of govts are BAD for the people and GOOD for the elites and those in charge. They bash anything Republican just because it's Republican. Liberals are not the smartest people in the room and it's best just to ignore them because they are not worthy and it's a waste of time to engage idiots. We, the people, will take back our country in Nov. and get this nation back on the road to a real recovery. DEMs are the ones keeping slaves and will do anything to everyone back on the plantation. The more people on food stamps the better. The more people out of work the better. It is a sick ideology that makes the populace beholden to the elites.

Rich Santorum is 'confident' he will win the GOP nomination. Barak Obama is 'confident' the Supreme Court won't overturn his legislation. Someone please explain to me how expressing an opinion (admittedly optimistic) is an 'attack' on the Supreme Court? The president may sneeze at a press conference and the GOP will accuse him of violating biological weapons treaties.

Of course he does. Hes realised hes got nothing left to contribute after he gets done saying NO obama is wrong we must stop him. Hes got no actual ideas on how to do better what obama has been trying to do so he just says something moronic like this. Its something a kid would do when hes out of comebacks in an argument

In the past, being a US Senator meant that this elected official was honorable and dignified. Since the mid 90s this has not been the case. The Republican Senators have lost their honor and have no respect for the office of the President. It is embarrassing to see and hear about their behavior.

Squigman, I hope you're right. I really do. The key is that Democrats have to show up at the polls. Traditionally, repubs will ALL show up to support their candidate...even if they can't stand him. Dems won't vote for someone they don't like, not even when they're holding their noses. We'll see!

Why do republicans consider themselves elitists...better, smarter than oridnary folks. Why are they so prejudice? 30 years ago this kind of talk at least in public was unheard of about a President. It's let 'me' show my disdain for a black boss.

Make no mistake it's pure hatred for a black President. I hope he (Obama) wins in November to rub this jerks nose in it for four more years!

There is no respect. Sad. Thanks to rush this is common place anymore.

MaryM is part of the problem in the US today. For years and years people have disagreed and made fun of and taken our Presidents to task; but, people like her want to make it racial. It is pretty sad in this country that if you disagree with a public official and he is black, brown or purple, you are accused of hating blacks. Grow up.

Stupid is as stupid does (Forrest Gump). Obama isn't really stupid but he is a pathological. egotistical liar with a communist bent (check the credentials of his Politburo, sorry czars, and you can see how he bends). Even hsi own bio tells of his affinity for communism.

I have to agree with Axelrod on this one. By looking at the way Grassley tweeted, HE'S the one who appears 'stupid'. His behavior is unprofessional at the very least.

Grassley is neither stupid, or forgetful....he is simply a coward. That should make him quite at home with his fellow TeaPartyRepublicans. For them, neither the baseless and personal rhetoric nor white sheets and hoods have lost their charm.

Just like the Republican party, we dare that Uppity President to question the Supreme court. The truth of the matter, the President is actually correct about the Supreme Court Judges, they are activist judge. How do you think we got a 5 to 4 decision of Bush vs Gore, and Citizen United, what citizen?

IInfantile conservatives express opinions they glean from others. Our great President of these United States of America is in no way demeaned by the ignorant ramblings of people who hate America. Actually, their rantings and ravings are quite comical; until one realizes that someone actually expresses a heartfelt opinion through them, then they are pretty tragic. A mind is a terrible thing to waste, and to waste a mind by listening to AM radio seems to be even perverse. I am embarrassed for my fellow Americans, the conservatives. Perhaps one day they will be grateful to live in America, until then they will remain whining and complaining and embarrassing themselves without knowing it. Poor people.

The funny thing is that most Republicans can barely string a sentence together without help from their aides and Grassley has the nerve to call someone else "stupid."

Republicans resort to name calling, there is no level too low for them to stoop to, is there? I have never seen such a lack of respect toward a President of the USA in my lifetime. Wake up people, this is the mindset if the Repubs are voted in. They are in it for them...and them only.
