Santorum suspends campaign, clearing Romney's path

Washington (CNN) - Conservative challenger Rick Santorum announced Tuesday that he is suspending his Republican presidential campaign after a weekend of "prayer and thought," effectively ceding the GOP nomination to front-runner Mitt Romney.

Santorum made his announcement after the weekend hospitalization of his 3-year-old daughter Isabella, and in the face of tightening poll numbers in Pennsylvania - the state he represented as a U.S. senator - ahead of the April 24 primary.

He's wasting his time. The Koch brothers will spend whatever it takes to get their lap-dog the nomination. Their real challenge will be to make everybody forget the many, many differing positions Mr. Etch-A-Sketch has taken on healthcare, women's health, Social Security, the auto industry, imigration, taxes, energy, and a host of other issues.

Santanorum is lucky to be so wealthy and to have excellent govt. health care that he can take care of a child with severe health issues.

I guess I will be voting for the Father who's five sons avoided volunteering for military service in times of war , Mitt Romney .

We are all very happy that Rick is back on the campaign trail, and his beautiful daughter Bella is back home from the hosptial. Millions of Americans still support and believe you can still win and be a strong voice for the conservative and moderate American people.

Don't give up because anything can happen....

Proof of insanity in action. Meanwhile Santorum continues doing a great job of convincing Americans that the GOP has lost its collective mind. I suppose the one advantage of allowing Santorum within 10 feet of a microphone is that it almost makes Mr. Romney sound reasonable.
