Video: Parenting us was tough, Josh Romney says

(CNN) – Josh Romney responded Thursday on CNN's "Piers Morgan Tonight" to a comment made by a Democratic strategist on Wednesday, that his mother Ann had "actually never worked a day in her life."

Hilary Rosen, who is also a CNN contributor, apologized for the comments on Thursday.

The truth is that you can only give what you have. Mrs Romney has no experience from which she can speak for working
women. She can speak on how to nurture children, not on the problems working women are facing. Period!

Yeah im sure it was hard for Ann to tell her maids to clean up after her boys or cook them meals.Or om sure she had to juggle her time between working and home worrying how she is going to pay her bills like most women.Being a rich stay at home mom has nothing to do with what normal moms go through in america, she is as out of touch as her hubby. There was a lot of truth to what has been said about Ann and to defend her as a normal mom is just as out of touch as it gets.Oh and sister wives dont count either lol.

Parenting is not so tough when you're rich. When you're a buck Sergeant with two kids, your husband is a Staff Sergeant deployed to his third assignment in the war zone, life can be tough. Don't whine about your life as a rich wife raising your kids without a concern in the world for housing, healthcare, food, or any of the other things real moms are faced with every day. This is a political maneuver – quit the fake whining you rich princess. Real people have real lives and don't buy the B.S.

Poor choice of words. Romney never worked outside the home and therefore would have a hard time relating with women who did. Knock off with all this crap of trying not offend anyone.

Let's be clear, Ann Romney lives a life of priviledge! Pretty certain she, like most wealthy people, had/has a house staff such as a housekeeper, childcare provider, gardener etc.! Perhaps a truer statement would be that Mrs. Romney has never had to work, take care of a family & go thru illnesses on a middleclass income! Many American women have to work to make ends meet & don't have the choice to stay home w/their kids! Many Americans go into debt for life trying to pay for the treatments of life threatening illnesses! Ann Romney hasn't had to deal w/any of those situations because her husband is a multi-millionaire, so how can she possibly know what the average woman thinks important! I'm sure that's what Hilary Rosen was trying to convey!!

I saw the show where someone said Romnys wife" had never worked a day in her life". Every one howled about being a mother was work etc. as she said she chose to be a "stay at home mom"!,.... This whole story was silly! In the first place a lot of moms would like to stay home with the kids but can't afford to. Secondly...I'm willing to bet that with the financial conditions she lived under. Mrs. Romney probably had a LOT of help and I doubt she stayed home all day every day. The whole story is a joke. Get down to the nitty gritty and look at real working moms juggling too many kids and not enough money....there you have a true picture of life!!!!!

A mom working full time while raising three kids by herself is a "working mom" and there are a lot of us that have done it or still are.!!!!You want to know what work is???? You got an hour or two while I tell you what it is???????

This is pure crazy. How many stories can you run on a non issue. We all know what she meant and Rosen was Right about Ann Romney and wasn't demonizing stay at home moms. But the media is so eager to please the GOP, that has been a non stop gaffe machine, that they have wasted a whole day rehashing this silliness. We also know that the GOP has been bashing women, and not apologizing, and threatening every program that helps women. So stop bashing Rosen and I am sure she still had a hard time raising her children with millions and a staff of many. Just like all the otrher women of the 1%.

Yep, it is challenging to raise boys (I have personal experience). I also know that not having to worry about money and being able to afford any possible help you need makes it much, much easier.

Everyone knows that Rosen was talking about a REAL JOB – you know, the kind with a paycheck. How many call-backs is Ann Romney going to get with "Housewife and Mom" on her resume??

truth has NEVER been a big issue it seems with the Romney folks and the truth is the woman that made this particular comment they are going to milk does not even work with nor for the president. But no matter because the right wing cares less about facts than they do about "red meat"

Thank you Josh for clearing up the questions about whether you were actually raised by nannies with a staff of maids. I suspected there was none of that. I always thought women were fighting for equality so there could be choices. I never knew there was to be strings attached to those choices and only certain ones would bring respect.

This is not quite fair to Hillary Rosen. She didn't mean to undermine anyone's work. What she meant was Ann Romney has never experienced what other women are facing now in economy. Is she going to tell other women how hard it is putting food on table?? Come on folks, this is not the way a candidate should win. It is just only testing one's thinking capacity.

Yeah I bet it was. Try doing it, while not being a billionaire. Try paying for child care and medicine and health insurance while making a measly wage.

More horn blowing to overshadow the fact that Rep. West made extremely divisive remarks, and no one in the Republican Party has condemned the remarks. It would seem that the GOTP gives tacit approval and support to his remarks.

Mitt comes home at night and asks his wife: "honey, how do you do it?", "how do you handle this big staff of maids and nannies?","and a two car elevator to boot?!?!" Yeah, she really, really works too damn hard!

I guess that puts to rest all the trash we have been hearing about all the servants the Romneys were "supposed" to have had helping out. Just another deceitful smear campaign by a bunch unhinged liberals. The lies never stop. They just keep repeating them.

I've stayed home and taken care of the kids and taken care of household duties before. It is no picnic for sure, and the liberal media is making a mountain out of a mole hill.

I bet it was, Josh. After all you are a Rawmoney. What Rosen meant was clear to any but the dumbest: Your very admirable Mom's life and economic experience is very far removed from that of the average struggling Mom in the USA, or anywhere else for that matter. However, great that you stand up for your Mom
