(CNN) - Mitt Romney's presidential campaign confirms that trusted adviser Beth Myers will lead the search for a running mate for the all-but-certain Republican presidential nominee.
The former Massachusetts governor made the comments Monday morning in an interview with ABC News that will air later in the day.

Myers is one of Romney's top advisers. She served as chief of staff when Romney was governor, and was campaign manager of his 2008 bid for the White House.
"This weekend was the first time we seriously really talked about it and there are some wonderful people out there," Romney said regarding the search for a running mate, in a preview of the interview released by ABC News.
Myers addressed her new role via Twitter on Monday, writing "As someone who has worked in partnership with @MittRomney for years, I am honored to lead his search for a VP."
I am willing to believe that he will pick an unknown. McCain did that and had a grand time with his disaster. The problem is that there are so many bad choices out there. What is the best choice for him? I think that he should pick Bachmann and watch the ship sink fast.

I doubt it. But then again, it depends what you define as an "unknown". Personally, I think he's going to choose Sen. Portman of Ohio, and I'd be willing to wager that there's beaucoup people who have no idea who that is.
Let's see...Mitt's gonna have to appeal to the base so he needs someone who's a hardcore conservative. He's got that Mormon problem so definitely wants someone who's associated with Evangelical Christianity. Needs to be someone exciting to counteract Mitt's tendency to be somnambulistic. Someone who will really 'fire up' the campaign. Hmmm... Wait! I've got it!
Romney / Satan 2012!!!
How about Condi Rice?? She covers all the bases.
