(CNN) – Rocker Ted Nugent did little to quell his reputation as a conservative firebrand through comments at the National Rifle Association convention when he took aim (pun intended) at high profile members of the Barack Obama administration and voiced support for presumptive Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney.
The Romney-backer, musician, activist, NRA board member and tea party figure encouraged an NRA audience over the weekend to help oust the current administration.

"If Barack Obama becomes the president in November again, I will either be dead or in jail by this time next year," Nugent said, according to a video posted on YouTube by the NRA. "If you can't go home and get everybody in your lives to clean house in this vile, evil America hated administration, I don't even know what you're made out of."
He accused the government of "wiping its ass with the Constitution you're living under a rock some place" and labeled members of the Obama administration, including the vice president, attorney general and secretary of state "criminals."
"We need to ride into that battlefield and chop their heads off in November. Am I, any questions?" Nugent said.
This is not the first time Nugent has vividly espoused his views. In fact, the NRA has a section of its website devoted to some of his statements, including profanity-laced comments and threats directed at then candidates Obama and Hillary Clinton during the last election cycle.
Responding to the comments from Nugent, who announced his support for the former Massachusetts governor in March, Romney spokeswoman Andrea Saul said "Divisive language is offensive no matter what side of the political aisle it comes from."
"Mitt Romney believes everyone needs to be civil," she added.
Saul's reaction followed a call from Democratic National Committee Chair Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz to denounce the remarks. Wasserman Schultz sent out an email to supporters on Tuesday to solicit donations off the comments she called "despicable, deplorable and completely beyond the pale."
"Romney's surrogates should know better than to rally the troops with outrageous rhetoric that is unacceptable in our political debate," the Florida representative said in a statement. "Mitt Romney must condemn Nugent's violent and hateful rhetoric immediately, as it has no place in our political discourse or this campaign."

The rank and file straight thinking Republican party member has lost control of his Party to Radicals like Nugent. No good will come of it for the country, the Democrats , and for their own Party. TED NUGENT IS A NUT WHO WILL DESTRUCT HIS OWN PARTY EFFORT. Thanks Ted for doing your best to elect President Obama!!!!!!!!!!!
The only thing the right knows how to do is violence. Says a lot about his mental capabiities.
I'm so sick of this guy's act...one marginal rock hit and he thinks he's a legend.
Take your guitars and 12,579 guns and leave the country already, preferably where some wildlife can rip you to shreds.
Or stick around and let us all watch your prophecy unfold between our very eyes.
Promise, Ted? But what will we ever do after the loss of a has been musician? LOL
People like Nugent gives Republicans bad name to an otherwise good political party.
All I can say is wow! RIP Ted.
I think he has bat scratch fever.
The drugs were awful good in the 70s. Apparently, Ted's brain is totally fried!
This guy needs meds. Or more meds. He is obviously smoking something though.
Seriously?
Free speech is one thing, veiled or unveiled threats against the President or members of the federal government are a crime.
Why hasn't he been arrested?
Nugent doesn't realize (no surprise) that this could seriously backfire and get people even more supportive of Obama – we don't like divisive figures/rhetoric, and this will likely have the opposite effect – duh.
... and his music sucks too
this guy loves attention, plain and simple. he brings nothing to humanity. i think of crosby, stills, nash and young, jackson browne, springstein and so many other entertainers who have done so much for our people, and then you have organic matter like nugent who is an empty eggshell. i vow this day never to renew my membership to the nra. if they can find a heart for cheney, surely they can find a brain for this pile of compost.
"If Barack Obama becomes the president in November again, I will either be dead or in jail by this time next year," Nugent said...
Do we get to choose?
Nugent had two almost good songs 35 years ago. You reall want to know why more people aren't outraged? Because nobody af any great importance gives a rat's turd about this pedantic imbecile.
Ted Nugent should not consider himself a true Patriot since he dodge the draft during the Vietnam War. He probably a supporter of Stand Your Ground law.
So this is an outrage, eh? But yet we have the New Black Panthers wantiing to put a bounty on George Zimmerman's head and we hear crickets from liberals and the white house. Hypocrites.
Here's an idea: The next time Nugent is in Florida, someone could go up to him and shoot him, claiming the "Stand Your Ground" law as a defense.
Makes perfect sense: Nugent makes any sane person feel threatened by his hateful nonsense. Best to just nip things in the bud before he hurts someone.
Where's all the hew and cry from the GOP about how celebrities should keep their mouths shut?
This election is going to be the biggest decision for our country in many generations. WE can not allow the tea crazies to turn this country into a war zone like Ted encourages. The GOP created the tea party, alienating many centrist Republicans and are now so embedded with the NRA and People LIke Ted that they need to be voted out of office and a new centrist party should take it's place.
Get into the Romney inner circle, as a team member you can be Secretary of War.
How sad. Ted Nugent finally found a way to get people to listen to him again.
These people yell a lot and make veiled threats, and think that others are supposed to be intimidated or afraid. Ted, if you're so tough, make a move, cowboy!
A washed up so called musician who sucked at the height of his short lived career. I wish I could vote for President Obama ten times.
Nugent is a draft dodging sissy that sucks as a guitar player.
