(CNN) – Rocker Ted Nugent did little to quell his reputation as a conservative firebrand through comments at the National Rifle Association convention when he took aim (pun intended) at high profile members of the Barack Obama administration and voiced support for presumptive Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney.
The Romney-backer, musician, activist, NRA board member and tea party figure encouraged an NRA audience over the weekend to help oust the current administration.

"If Barack Obama becomes the president in November again, I will either be dead or in jail by this time next year," Nugent said, according to a video posted on YouTube by the NRA. "If you can't go home and get everybody in your lives to clean house in this vile, evil America hated administration, I don't even know what you're made out of."
He accused the government of "wiping its ass with the Constitution you're living under a rock some place" and labeled members of the Obama administration, including the vice president, attorney general and secretary of state "criminals."
"We need to ride into that battlefield and chop their heads off in November. Am I, any questions?" Nugent said.
This is not the first time Nugent has vividly espoused his views. In fact, the NRA has a section of its website devoted to some of his statements, including profanity-laced comments and threats directed at then candidates Obama and Hillary Clinton during the last election cycle.
Responding to the comments from Nugent, who announced his support for the former Massachusetts governor in March, Romney spokeswoman Andrea Saul said "Divisive language is offensive no matter what side of the political aisle it comes from."
"Mitt Romney believes everyone needs to be civil," she added.
Saul's reaction followed a call from Democratic National Committee Chair Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz to denounce the remarks. Wasserman Schultz sent out an email to supporters on Tuesday to solicit donations off the comments she called "despicable, deplorable and completely beyond the pale."
"Romney's surrogates should know better than to rally the troops with outrageous rhetoric that is unacceptable in our political debate," the Florida representative said in a statement. "Mitt Romney must condemn Nugent's violent and hateful rhetoric immediately, as it has no place in our political discourse or this campaign."

There is a concert video clip where Ted says Obama and Hillary Clinton should each suck on a machine gun. It has aired on Hannity and is introduced as being from "Friend of the show, Ted Nugent." I have trouble listening to his music now. As much as I hated Bush's policies, I never felt the need to threaten his life.
Think it time to arrest Nugent for threating our President and encouraging the populace to do the same if they are worth their salt. Ridiculous! Horrible behavior! What a truly stupid person for lack of a better term.
I guess Nugent is off his meds again!
Hmmm... not exactly great comments from Nugent (cant say I'm a fan) but I would almost rather his very inappropriate comments then some of the terribly stupid ones of Biden’s, (and Biden is hand picked!) I don’t believe Nugent speaks for the Romney campaign in any way... So I don’t know why there are now calls for Mr. R to denounce him. We all know the comments are not anything near what the rest of us "right wingers" think or feel.
I know a lot of people are upset with the dems right now... but we have to keep the conversation and comments civil to get any changes through. Grow up people.
Those of you calling Nugent a crackpot, crazy, nut job, etc truly will NEVER understand why the Founders ARE the Founders of this Nation.
You're also the reason why this Nation can no longer be called the bastion of individual Liberty and Freedom.
George Eastman, eat your heart out.
What a whack-o. His grammar is a messed up as his opinions.
That will be two things to celebrate come November.
Threatens death. He won't do it. He doesn't have the nerve. He has demonstrated his coward mentality during the Vietnam War. Yeah, he is just another right wing draft dodger. He is nothing more than a blowhard. What a piece of work!
Wow! If someone said that about Bush it would have been deemed "unpatriotic". But it's ok to say about Obama.
Saying he'll be "dead or in jail" is a not-so-subtle hint at an assassination attempt. How soon can we expect Ted Nutgent to be arrested?
Conservatives are some of the least informed people in the country. Those claiming the President wants to limit gun laws have no clue as to what they're talking about. If anything, the President has expanded gun rights laws. Who was the President who even cleared the way for you to take your firearm onto the grounds at federal parks? Yep. President Obama. He hasn't proposed legislation to hinder the second amendment whatsoever.
I'm an NRA member but absolutely do not support this brain dead clown. He does a great disservice to the NRA which used to be a respectable group until idiot like this became involved!.
ROCK ON Uncle Ted!!!!!!!! Speaking nothing but the truth!!!
Republicans held President Obama responsible for the comments Rosen made about Mrs. Romney. President Obama rightfully denounced the comments. Why doesn't Romney "man-up" and forcefully denounced Nugent's comments which are worse than Rosen's in that he advocates physical harm against the President. Romney's silence tells you so much about his character.
Hard to believe Ted Nugent is the same guy who 40 some years ago had a hit song about taking drugs and Acid Trips... "Journey to the Center of the Mind". I disagree with some of his views, but I'll always like his music.
So why isn't Ms. Wasserman-Schultz all uptight about hateful things that Bill Maher says? Oh, wait . . . silly question.
Wow. I've decided not only to vote for Obama, but to actively campaign for him now, on the slim chance that the Nuge will keep his campaign promise, and die! Of course, there's no way Nuge would go to prison, even with the Aryan Boys protection, he'd be as dead as his own eardrums in no time. He doesn't have the courage to face that scenario, as he prefers killing defenseless animals from a safe distance. If I'm not mistaken he and Mick Jagger share the dubious distinction of being the only two "artists" that Jimi Hendrix met and DIDN'T like. That should tell any self respecting fan of America and Rock Music, everything they need to know.
Remember the massacre in Rwanda? It started with hate speeches like Nugent's. Stupid, mindless persons let loose in the media.
Good one less idiot to worry about!!!
See how having a black man as President have driven the racist white people crazy. I have to say it is fun to watch, I wish it could last forever. 🙂
OMG – he is make threats against a US president. Where is the outrage against this.
Everytime I hear a Nugent song now, I'm going to think to my self, what a Moron this Idiot turned into.
I just wrote to the NRA and unsubscribed ! Good by losers!
Nugent has to be pitied.
