Nugent threatens death if Obama wins in November

(CNN) – Rocker Ted Nugent did little to quell his reputation as a conservative firebrand through comments at the National Rifle Association convention when he took aim (pun intended) at high profile members of the Barack Obama administration and voiced support for presumptive Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney.

The Romney-backer, musician, activist, NRA board member and tea party figure encouraged an NRA audience over the weekend to help oust the current administration.

"If Barack Obama becomes the president in November again, I will either be dead or in jail by this time next year," Nugent said, according to a video posted on YouTube by the NRA. "If you can't go home and get everybody in your lives to clean house in this vile, evil America hated administration, I don't even know what you're made out of."

He accused the government of "wiping its ass with the Constitution you're living under a rock some place" and labeled members of the Obama administration, including the vice president, attorney general and secretary of state "criminals."

"We need to ride into that battlefield and chop their heads off in November. Am I, any questions?" Nugent said.

This is not the first time Nugent has vividly espoused his views. In fact, the NRA has a section of its website devoted to some of his statements, including profanity-laced comments and threats directed at then candidates Obama and Hillary Clinton during the last election cycle.

Responding to the comments from Nugent, who announced his support for the former Massachusetts governor in March, Romney spokeswoman Andrea Saul said "Divisive language is offensive no matter what side of the political aisle it comes from."

"Mitt Romney believes everyone needs to be civil," she added.

Saul's reaction followed a call from Democratic National Committee Chair Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz to denounce the remarks. Wasserman Schultz sent out an email to supporters on Tuesday to solicit donations off the comments she called "despicable, deplorable and completely beyond the pale."

"Romney's surrogates should know better than to rally the troops with outrageous rhetoric that is unacceptable in our political debate," the Florida representative said in a statement. "Mitt Romney must condemn Nugent's violent and hateful rhetoric immediately, as it has no place in our political discourse or this campaign."

Decent Republicans, let your voices be heard denouncing crazy Ted Nugent and other crazies of your party. Are you all going to let the crazies take your party down? And Democrats, let this be a lesson in how NOT to behave! Let's have a return to decent behavior that shows respect for ourselves and others. If we don't we are all sealing our own doom.

NRC, that's the problem. Obama is up on Romney as of today. Nobody wants Obama out. His likeability is better than Romney's. Where are you getting that from.

Where were you when Rosen was attacked for her comments about women last week that weren't anything remotely close to this? Just hypocritical.

Where are the republicans taking ownership of Nugent's comments? Own him. Take him. You were all about Obama owning Rev. Wright.

Nugent belongs to you and your party.

Ted Nugent didn't threaten anyone. He was referring to the fact that if Obama gets a 2nd term he will try to ram major gun restrictions through and will have to kill a bunch of us before he gets our guns. It is Obama who will threaten, Ted Nugent, just like millions of us, will only stand his ground..

Recently the Conservatives on the Supreme Court found that cavity searches are perfectly fine.

I hope the Secret Service gives him a good search. He might be hiding a gun somewhere way up his rear. They should find the guy with the biggest hands to do the search.

So many times these Tea Party types go too far with their comments. Nugent is one of the many that just don't get it. They don't care what the facts are. They don't care that they are crossing a very bright line. And they look like idiots in the process. Obama hasn't done anything vile or deserving of this level of "hate" from these people. Its up to everyone to condemn those that chose to spread hate. Whether it's calling them out in public like this or just shutting them down when they start ranting in a group. Ignoring this level of bad behavior does no one any good.

I'm just amazed that Romney has apparently (as far as I know at this point) has not publicly rebuked Nugent, and I'm even more amazed that the FBI is not knocking at his door and taking him in for questioning. Hilary Rosen's remark about Mrs. Romney not working a day in her life absolutely pales by comparison to threatening the life of a U.S. President. And Ms. Rosen's comment was taken out of context - she went on to explain in the next couple of sentences what she meant: simply referring to Mrs. Romney not having to work in the secular world to help support her family. Ms. Rosen did not threaten anyone's life, and yet she was ostracized, and even President Obama distanced himself from her remarks. Where has Romney been while the NRA is actually publishing Nugent's threat on its website? And did he accept any campaign contributions from him?

@ RetiredVet I'm a vet too but I don't believe for a minute this Administration is trying to abolish 2nd Amendment rights. Friendly fire isn't always so friendly. Ever seen Platoon? I could be Tom Berenger and you could be Willem Defoe.

"Nugent for President. Wake up america dont cry to the NRA when Obama turn you to communism'
Home schooling... How long can the Republicans associate themselves with the NRA? Does the NRA endorse domestic terrorism?

    Ted Nugent,

    Let'a see,

    High School Graduate,
    Draft Dodger,
    8 Children by 5 Women,
Likes killing things, especially very young & helpless animals,

Yeah, like he's a Patriot we should listen to. Unfortunately the GOP is so derelict, he'll enjoy the support of their uneducated minions. Is this the best they've got? That alone should serve as an example of GOP ignorance.

So tired of these wannabe militant hillbillies getting involved in political discussions .. just because they want something to point their crossbows at .. who cares what Ted Nugent has to say about anything , unless its rock music .. all of this lib/con bickering over how to treat the symptoms instead of solving the real problems is pointless ..
