Romney cites 'vast left wing conspiracy'

(CNN) – Speaking to a right wing radio host Tuesday, likely GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney repurposed a phrase from Hillary Clinton, citing a "vast left wing conspiracy" brewing in the media and liberal advocacy organizations to derail his campaign.

Romney was making an appearance on Breitbart TV and was asked by host Larry O'Connor whether he was ready to take on "the media and these nonprofits groups that are working together."

"There will be an effort by the quote vast left wing conspiracy to work together to put out their message and to attack me," Romney said in response. "They're going to do everything they can to divert from the message people care about, which is a growing economy that creates more jobs and rising incomes. That's what people care about."

Romney's choice of words echoes Clinton's assertion in 1998 that a "vast right wing conspiracy" was behind the sexual harassment charges her husband, former President Bill Clinton, was facing at the time.

"I mean, look at the very people who are involved in this – they have popped up in other settings," Clinton, now the U.S. secretary of state, said on NBC's "Today" in 1998. "This is – the great story here for anybody willing to find it and write about it and explain it is this vast right-wing conspiracy that has been conspiring against my husband since the day he announced for president."

Romney said dealing with journalists, many of whom he said were biased, was a perpetual problem for Republicans.

"Many in the media are inclined to do the president's bidding and I know that's an uphill battle we fight with the media generally," Romney said, before praising O'Connor for offering a conservative voice.

The candidate said he was unfazed by the prospect of doing battle with the left's vast operation.

"Democrats know that given the president's record over the last three years they cannot run on that record," Romney said. "They will make this race about anything but the president's record and the economy."

Mitt is right on every count on this one. Obama signs an order on New Years eve that basically says he can kill American citizens without trial. He warms up to the Russians, he wages warfare by gender, race and social status and the media wants to cover Obamas dog and Michelle, like everything's fine. Oh by the way didn't he renew the Patriot act too ? YES HE DID. But don't worry libs everything's fine. If by some miracle he gets a second term you will get to live in tyranny unfettered.

And one last thought. Everyone in the mainstream media should be imprisoned for treason. We all know that if you want the truth , you will not get it from the mainstream media.

It is pretty obvious that much of the press is fully behind Obama just like 2008. Anybody that denies that is delusional.

V in Chicago – We currently have an inadequate President that is not qualified to do the job he was elected to do. It was obvious in 2008 to anybody that paid attention.

Not that McCain was a good option...

Everyone with any sense knows much of the US media is up Obama's rear and they work together with Far Left blogs like Huffington etc. Those who deny that are just liars.

How crazy of Mitt to describe the MSM as being left-wing. Now if he had said "far left-wing, Kool-Aid gulping Obamunists", he would be right on target. The MSM can no longer hide behind the fraudulent claim of being "journalists". They are political operatives for the Demoncrats, and as such, should no longer be protected by the First Amendment.

I am not a Romney fan, but many of the comments imply they will be voting for Mr. O....and to that I say...people without an organized system of thought will always be at the mercy of people that do...

Facts are facts and Obama is one big failure. Anyone is better then Obama.
All the socialistic democrats have nothing to offer but bigger failed government. Your the kind of people that causes dictatorships to florish and personal rights to dissapear. If you want an european economy, move to europe. the EU policies have failed. 2010 showed real americans are waking up to the the democratically held do nothing congress. Democrats won't even propose a budgect because they don't want you fools to know where their spending the money. Obama proposes a budget and none (including Democrats) would endorse it. Worst president, even worse then Carter. Facts are clear but the democratic horizon looks really fuzzy.

The man-child Obama is looking at a dark horizon. Not only his campaign but his entire adult life – if you can call it that – is nothing more than a rabble-rousing rally of the stupid against the productive. He has never created anything of value and is incapable of any kind of meaningful production; his one ability is to electrify the brain-dead zombies in this country who are similarly stupid, shiftless and morally bankrupt. With the help of his propaganda arm, the so-called news media, Obama was able to fool a majority in 2008. The only ones who are still fooled are those who were born fools, and they will soon see what a minority they truly are.

I am totally amazed how easily Obama supporters hang on his every word. When I was young my grandmother made on observation. She said what some one does rings so loudly in her ears she could not hear what you say. Stop and compare what Obama says to what he actually does. He is an expert with smoke and mirrors.

Careful there sport. Rise above, don’t get yanked in. The mainstream media is what it is and you are not going to change that. Accept the fact that they will never love you. Learn to accept indifference as acceptance and work toward that. Don’t tick them off because they hold a grudge. Yes, Obama has the mainstream media. That’s baked into the equation. Mainstream media will fall on its sword for him and there is nothing you can do about it. Deal with it.

I'm not at all surprised by the liberal outrage expressed here. When you have nothing to tout about Obama why not just name call Romney. Obama is nothing but a Pimp Daddy who parties while soldiers lay dying and wounded in Afghanistan. What in the world do liberals have to brag about with Obama? Name just one thing other than the historical first black the poicies? Name the job recovery....where is it....not in my neighborhood. Where are all the tax reform he keeps talking about. He had a super-majority for two years, two years total control and what did he do???? He made sure all of his campaign contributors had plenty of cash at taxpayer expense. Amazing record. Nearly a trillion dollars invested in now bankrupt companies. Do any of you liberals think that's ok???

I have to agree with the man. The media is neither right nor left. They have their special interests. Not mine, not yours and definitely not honest interests either. The media. The game of lies.
