Romney: Obama should 'suck it up'

(CNN) - Mitt Romney drew new contrasts with President Barack Obama on Wednesday by targeting the president's fondness for golf and vacations with his family.

The presumptive Republican presidential nominee said Obama's golf trips make him "scratch his head."

"I must admit, I scratch my head at the capacity of the president to take four hours off on such a regular basis to go golfing," Romney told WLW Radio in Cincinnati, responding to a question about the president's hobbies. "I would think you could kind of suck it up for four years particularly when the American people are out of work."

When asked about vacations taken by the Obama family, who travel to the president's native Hawaii annually, Romney said his family would not use four or eight years in the White House to "see the world." Instead, the former Massachusetts governor said he would frequent Camp David, the presidential retreat in the Catoctin Mountain Park of Frederick County, Maryland.

"I think one of the great resources that the president enjoys is Camp David," Romney said, after the host referenced a recent trip by Obama's eldest daughter Malia to Mexico. "I would anticipate if I were fortunate enough to become elected president that I'd be spending some time at Camp David, and my family and I would not be jetting around the world and using four years in office to see the world."

Obama has admittedly not used the grounds as much as his predecessors but is scheduled to host the G-8 summit there in May.

"Somebody pointed out that I hadn't had any of my counterparts, who I've worked with now for three years, up to Camp David," Obama told reporters in March. "I think that the weather should be good that time of year."

Team Obama did not immediately respond to a request for comment following Romney's interview.

Someone tell this rat fink candidate that Camp David is a military base, and we taxpayers pay for its existence, whether a President stays there or not? Someone might also point out that the costs go up when a President does stay there, after factoring in security logistics, etc.

Folks– Bush is ANCIENT histoty Obama is worse than Bush so throw himout and lets keep doing that until we get a leader not a campaigner in chief. Also if you think about it we don't need a divider in chief either or a president with an enemies list!

To those who criticize Romney for allowing his Dog to ride on the roof of his car for a few hundred miles this is only an issue because the dog got sick this dog was not loose on the roof he was in a protective cage strapped down very tight and Romney has already said the Dog loved fresh air

The programmed Romney Roboto is spewing again,.. he reminds me of the mindless robot on the 60's..TV series " Lost In Space',.. aimlessly stumbling around, and constantly blurting out,.. " it does not compute,.. it does not compute."

To be fair, the elevator is not for people: it is for his cars. Clearly, it is his cars that are lazy, not the Changeling.

Mitt Romney, the "unemployed" candidate – he has spent more than a decade running for President and going on vacations and spending times in his many many homes throughout the U.S. He has Swiss bank accounts, money in offshore places, and he dares to criticize the President for taking a vacation with his family once in awhile, or god forbid, golfing! Mr. Romney, what is wrong with a round of golf once in a while to decompress. You really are out of touch.

During the first 3 years, Pres. Obama has spent approximately 60 days on vacation.

During his first 3 years, former Pres. George W. Bush spent approximately 180 days on vacation.

Mitt Romney calls traveling to Hawaii, "seeing the world"? Every President since I've been alive has had a "traditional family retreat" that they would go to on a regular basis. Guess where Mitt Romney's traditional family retreat. It is anyplace on planet Earth that they want it to be.

Romney's capacity to lie knows no bounds. This clown alienates more and more voters every time he opens his mouth and attacks the President on a personal level. Why is this? because Romney does not have any clue about being the president.

I have no problem with ayone playing golf or taking vacations as long as they also occasionally appear to do the job they were elected to do. Mr Obama never seems to be running the country as he is in continual campaign mode, but does have plenty of blame for others that he perceives have not done their job. I was never a big fan of Bush but he's been gone for over three years and despite that fact he is still to blame on a daily basis. Mr Obama needs to man up to his own responsibilities toward what is going on within his own administration.

How is going to Hawaii, Obama's home state, "seeing the world"? God forbid anyone visits Mexico either. I guess leaving the contiguous United States doesn't poll well with independents.

Romney is a pathetic panderer. Why does he act like a kindergarten kid with all the sniping. Isn't that what Palin did too? Is the GOP so out of fresh ideas that all they can do is slam Obama and avoid facts, like how much time this President has actually spent on vacation vs. the previous deadbeat? Anyone voting for Mittens, if you are not a millionaire, deserve what you get. Trouble is, the rest of us wouldl need to suffer through more of the failed GOP policies that got us into the mess Obama has worked so hard to turn back in the right direction.

Wow, CNN is really making this a thing. Gulf, of all the things to be..Ok this was done with Bush before, this was also done with Obama before, how many times are we going to see gulf being a big issue on the front page, of all the things to be trending, this is a joke, a tragedy, this "news" is just insulting. Either they thing Gen Y is full of idiots or it's not Gen Y sucking this up at all. I wish they would go on Reddit for some real news and whats really trending in politics. Things that actually matter!

"During the first 3 years, Pres. Obama has spent approximately 60 days on vacation.

During his first 3 years, former Pres. George W. Bush spent approximately 180 days on vacation."

Indeed. Clinton was at 28 days and Reagan was at over 120 days in the same time period.

The President is from Hawaii. Maybe Romney didn't know that he goes there to visit his family. Does Romney count his visits to his own other houses as vacations?

That's just silly. Stay on message Mitt, if you got one, which I think many voters are beginning to doubt. How many votes are you going to sway by complaining about Obama playing golf?
