Romney: Obama should 'suck it up'

(CNN) - Mitt Romney drew new contrasts with President Barack Obama on Wednesday by targeting the president's fondness for golf and vacations with his family.

The presumptive Republican presidential nominee said Obama's golf trips make him "scratch his head."

"I must admit, I scratch my head at the capacity of the president to take four hours off on such a regular basis to go golfing," Romney told WLW Radio in Cincinnati, responding to a question about the president's hobbies. "I would think you could kind of suck it up for four years particularly when the American people are out of work."

When asked about vacations taken by the Obama family, who travel to the president's native Hawaii annually, Romney said his family would not use four or eight years in the White House to "see the world." Instead, the former Massachusetts governor said he would frequent Camp David, the presidential retreat in the Catoctin Mountain Park of Frederick County, Maryland.

"I think one of the great resources that the president enjoys is Camp David," Romney said, after the host referenced a recent trip by Obama's eldest daughter Malia to Mexico. "I would anticipate if I were fortunate enough to become elected president that I'd be spending some time at Camp David, and my family and I would not be jetting around the world and using four years in office to see the world."

Obama has admittedly not used the grounds as much as his predecessors but is scheduled to host the G-8 summit there in May.

"Somebody pointed out that I hadn't had any of my counterparts, who I've worked with now for three years, up to Camp David," Obama told reporters in March. "I think that the weather should be good that time of year."

Team Obama did not immediately respond to a request for comment following Romney's interview.

Instead of "jetting" around the world, he and his wife will simply drive the 2 Cadillacs around town like pushers.

Romney needs to shut his mouth. Obama's home town is in Hawaii, is it a sin for him to see his family there? Romney's home town is on the mainland, no DUH he won't use jets to get around. Another thing, Obama is "jetting" around the world to talk with leaders, attend events, and speak around the world. If Romney wants to be anti-diplomatic, good for him, but I ENCOURAGE him to fly around the world, and speak for our nation instead of being some prideful hermit.

Gee Mittens, maybe you could take another family vacation with the family dog strapped to the roof for 12 hours.

    Miserable. Animal. Abuser.

And little Rush Limbaugh attempted to draw a false equivalence today with Obama, because when Obama was 6 years old he was given a taste of what he was later told was dog.

A six year old boy vs Etch-a-Sketch at thirty six, strapping a diarrhea-dripping dog to the roof of the family car.

You Republicans: this is your nominee. Really? This animal abuser and his Stepford wife?

Never gonna happen Repubs. Romney is disgusting as a human being. What a slimeball.

Well as was shown at the last election time, The Bushes went home to to thier ranch and spent many many days there and only occasionally to Camp David.
By the way Mr Romney ex Bain your normal working week was Monday to Friday and two days off and I am sure just like Obama who goes to church weekends you go and went to your church or are you now just a part time Mormon bishop? Perhaps because you are too busy campaigning 24/7 365 or writing sermons and preaching to Obama to do this or that more appropriately or better, or heaven forbid play golf yourself or take time out for your personal hobby ( whatever that is) or supporting your church or religion.
When you start being specific about your policies I might and other voters might just be able to consider whether Obama is worse or better than you. Until then he is entitled to vacation where he likes and play golf once a week if he wishes. He's been OTJ more days than most Presidents.
You have now involved his kids in politics and criticism!! You lack even a modicum of civility and dare I say respect for anothers family. for gods sake leave his two minor daughters out of your diatribes please!!
The chances of you getting elected and therefore having the chance to use camp david is something that is presumptious and arrogant.
    Your norms so that's life.
    Regards,
    Hodgson.

Sure...do like Bush Jr did and run the country from Camp David. Bush was at Camp David more than he was in DC.

Money is poorest measure of a person's wealth. We have substantial employment opportunities in our country that remain unfilled and unfulfilled. People want work to appear at their doorstep and do not feel any need to invest in their "education" or abilities in retraining. We are a nation of spoiled, hate-filled, arrogant, overweight, one-dimensional, people waiting for God to find us a job. It lis within our means to reach beyond our limits and find substantive self-support and sustainment. We should look closely at how we are able to create a future. We cannot blame others for a lack of motivation to re-tool our own vocational dream.

When Governor Romney says to "just suck it up" to President Obama then you know how he governed MA. That statement could apply to the rest of us if Governor Romney wins in November. He us prepared to eliminate the safety net and many of us will just fall through. Then we will be out of his view.

I guess Romney will not be going to any of his many homes where his SUV's have brand new elevators to take them to their parking spots. Pity. What a fool!

He was asked and he gave his opinion. It's seems every president gets some heat for taking vacations, why should Obama be any different. I've heard more stories from CNN about how important vacations as are for such a stressful job, I see more pro-Obama spin on this than prior presidents received. Romney bring s up a good point about camp David, it’s been an asset for past presidents that’s it’s a surprise that Obama in his fourth year is only now saying he should us it more – that’s an odd 'learning'. Even Clinton took Reagan’s advice on how important camp David is and that he should use it.

it will be ok Mr. Romney – don't you worry your pretty little head about it. there are a lot of things you don't understand. Mostly you don't understand what is happening in America to people who are not rich – but you go right on wasting your time worrying about what this President is doing – you wouldn't get it even if you really tried

Mittens, Please let us know how many vacations did GWB take while in office? I would assume the reason you have a problem with BO taking 4 hours to go golfing is because you were to busy screwing over people to make more money and did not take the time to learn the game.

Can't believe it, all the name calling and finger pointing at Romney. And on top of that, Obama has no solutions for getting our debt down, only that the Republicans are scaring people by them cutting federal programs. My, how do you think we are going to get that taken care of so our children and grandchildren won't have such a massive issue to deal with in the near future? You figure raising taxes on a select few is going to take care of it all? Get a grip of reality. As long as people continue to get a free ride from the government with no chance to lose that ride, why not vote for Obama.

Out of touch with people is such an issue with Romney and his money. Well how did Obama get to where he is? Using the government for his breaks for school while Romney was making his by investing, and he is bad for that? I too had a good job that paid well, invested it and now am retired at 56, and that makes me bad compared to those who don't have jobs or struggle to make ends meet?

Out of touch, figure how much, or better yet, who paid for, Obama's daughter and her spring break to a place most of us wouldn't traverse to. 25 secret service agents pay surely isn't the only cost that we paid for. Or how about our government suing states for passing bills to do the job they should be doing? No, can't see myself voting for someone who takes the job of President by passing the buck around.

Mr. Romney really has no good agenda. He should put his plans to the American people. U can not tell people not to vote for President Obama without giving them a good
    reason

I don't understand why people are criticise and concentrate on Romney being successful and wealthy. I would want to work for and look for some one who is better than me and who is successful. My manager is more experienced/skilled than me but the top executive is certainly much richer/experienced than me. I am going to look towards them to be like them and work towards being like them some day.

Is one of the requirements to be a President a common man? Would you vote for some one who has no wealth, influence, presence, just another Joe? So Romney's wealth and his success does matter not to demonize but how he has become successfull and can actually LEAD! Think ...

As Mittens so eloquently expressed to real americans who are unemployed "me too!". Mitt hasn't had a job in 16 years...unless you count trying to become president a job.

Now go back to your 24/7 vacation you've been on for 16 years Mittens.

Romney has got to be the biggest liar since Nixon. I can't figure out why this man wants to be POTUS. He has no core values. He'll say anything to get where he needs to be.
