Romney to meet privately with RNC members

Scottsdale, Arizona (CNN) – Mitt Romney will meet privately with members of the Republican National Committee at their meeting in Scottsdale on Friday, CNN has learned.

Romney is also slated to address a committee luncheon later on Friday afternoon.

Two Republican sources involved in the planning of the private get together, which will happen before the speech, said that RNC members and state GOP chairmen who have been supportive of the campaign will be invited to meet with Romney.

The former Massachusetts governor simply plans thank the members for their work and encourage them to continue their efforts to unseat President Barack Obama, one source said.

Though Romney does not have the delegates to officially claim the nomination, there is broad consensus among RNC members that he will be the party's standard-bearer in November.

RNC staffers and the Romney campaign have also started discussing, informally, how to sync up their operations for the general election.

Several of Romney's senior advisers traveled to Arizona a day before Romney's arrival to brief RNC insiders on the state of the campaign and strategize for the general election.

Republicans across the country are rallying around Mitt Romney because he is the guy who can win in November and this is how it will be done. And to put this nation back on a course for quickest recovery, they also know it will take the kind of congressional support that Obama had in 2009 and 2010. Administration, House and Senate.

Will the RNC step away from the NRA and Ted Nugent? He and Romney are apparently soul-mates now. Makes sense... both are "chicken-hawks" but I don't believe Mitt crapped his pants to avoid the draft. I can't look at Ted Nugent without thinking about that cowardly and disgusting act.

He has to make sure that they are aware that his public face and any moderate stances on any issues is just for public consumption, and that if he gets into office he'll be more that happy to zero out millionaire's taxes, immediately declare war on Iran, letting Israel decide how it should be fought, kill the food stamp program and give the money to the military, allow speculators to operate with no restrictions and no oversight, allow all corporations to operate with no oversight or restrictions, and ad nauseam.
