Liberty's choice of Romney leads to angry student response

Washington (CNN) – Liberty University students and alumni are accusing the Christian school of violating its own teachings by asking Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney, a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints whose adherents are called Mormons, to deliver its 2012 commencement address.

By Friday morning, more than 700 comments had been posted on the school's Facebook page about the Thursday announcement – a majority of them decidedly against the Chancellor Jerry Falwell Jr.’s invitation, citing that the school had taught them Mormonism isn’t part of the Christian faith.

Get over it - if the Christian evengelicals want to have any voice in the future of this nation they need to be less rigid and move towards the center - Do that or disappear into oblivion

Buddhism isn’t part of the Christian faith
Judaism isn’t part of the Christian faith
Islam isn’t part of the Christian faith

The students need to decided if they wish to be aprt of the planet or go off and sulk in a corner with no voice

  4. vote the Tea Party OUT in 2012

I tried to point out here on CNN PT that Romney being a Mormon might be an issue for some at this school, for some reason the moderator decided not to post it. Mitt's trying to appeal to the far right is going to blow up in his face sooner or later and he'll forget where he really stands on what issues.

The Christian Right has long ago established if they have to choose between power and doing the right thing they will always choose power. They are out to erase the wall of separation between Church and State. How can Romney who until recently was a moderate help them to this end? Do they really believe he is as extreme as he has pretends to be? NO but they see a big chance to add to their advantage of blacked robed reactionaries know as the Supreme Court. It really makes perfect sense,

Is it also because Mittens lies like a used car dealer? According to the book of Mormon, Mittens lies will send him to Hell.

These students are displaying their own shortcomings, not Mitt Romney's. Hopefully as they continue to develop as adults they come to accept other people who may have different religious beliefs. The position of American President is not a religious appointment but a manager and a leader of a nation.

I'd be angry too. Maybe it's the only way he can get a captive audience that size, but if he is unwelcome don't make them suffer.

Mormons baptised Hitler - making him one of them - 50 or 60 years after Hitler died. How sick can a religious cult get?

Students are so right. I guess evangelicals will flip flop too. Thats how bad the repos have become. They all will give up any principal to get the white house back. It goes to show you how little they care about what is going on with the american people. Obama 2012

They should be protesting Romney's policies. He backs the Ryan plan that cuts assistance to college students.

CNN ignores Ron Paul while Ron Paul draws crowds of thousands of people at each stop he shows up to. Far more than Mitt Romney.

So there you go....Obama's a Christian!!! It's all about respect and that a new idea to the Christians. I would hope not. You can respect the worlds religions ....without having to convert to their ways. Hell Jesus broke bread with tax collectors!!! I'd love to see Romney lean from that!!!

It's ironic how these right-wing Christian zealots always are making themselves out to be victims of some sort of persecution. Yet at the same time, they can't seem to tolerate Mormons. Funny, isn't it?

Ha, Ha! And this from the students (pawns and brainwashing victims) who allowed the campus to disband and forbid any students to have a Democrat-supporting organisation but allow a Republican-supporting one to continue. Free speech and thought are clearly not in the curriculum at this "educational facility". These people need to seriously reevaluate what "Christian Values" are!

Jerry is a favoritist of the illuminati. "Beware of false prophets " we are not always who we appear to be. Some people project false perceptions of themselves. They are liars and thieves. For they try to mislead people to the lair of evil through the binding of the truth with its intentional misconceptions. Beware of the tea party and republicans. Beware of spiritual leaders backing them! Christians only use the Bible as their guide. Any religion that ads to God's word with another book....BEWARE! !!! He says: "BEFORE MY WORD EVER CHANGES, HEAVEN AND EARTH WILL PASS AWAY." PREACHERS SELL OUT SOMETIMES TOO!!!!! FOR GREED! BUT BE NOT DISCOURAGED. God is still in control. Stand on the Word of God no matter what. Dont allow fake Christians detour you. Hold on and stand tall for Jesus Christ.

I rebuke satan and his tantrums in this world. I rebuke his strongholds in the united states government and rich greed people. I rebuke the character called "prejudice " in this world. I rebuke oppression and financial slavery. I rebuke all the evil in this world and ask that Love and Charity abound in these troubled times. God bless Israel and all that are created in His image that they strive diligently to edify Christ Jesus kingdom. Amen
