(CNN) - President Obama is heading back to late night television next week, set to appear on comedian Jimmy Fallon's show as part of a week-long push to pressure congressional Republicans to renew a measure keeping student loan rates at 3.4 percent.
News of Obama's appearance on the popular late night comedy show came via Twitter from both Fallon himself and White House Communications Director Dan Pfieffer Friday morning. It is the president's first appearance on the show, though First Lady Michelle Obama was a guest in February.

Can someone please explain what was the benefit of inserting private banks between the government and students? It was claimed that it was done in the name of efficiency and cost cutting. I see nothing efficient about it when I look at the salaries of the bank employees managing and adminsitering the loans compared to the salaries of the government employees who used to do the same job.
The rate should stay the same. Obviously the special interest that be didn't get the message of the 99% movement. The middle class are the only one's sacrificing in this age of austerity. What's the point of going to school, putting yourself in debt, getting out of school and can't find a job? It's a recipe for disaster. Luckily college kids can stay on their parents health insurance policy up until the age of 26 thanks to the ACA.
Obama is now starting to promise everything and the world again! Let's see how many idiots fall for these promises again!!!
Yeah, gotta get out there and talk up all the freebies everybody will get at the expense of other people. It is all Obama has done for 4 years. Does he realize he's President, not Santa Claus?
Compassionate president. We love you for the terrific job you're doing. God bless America!
keeping the rates low is a great thing obama. but what about making it more affordable. My wife graduated and the payments are so high i could have 2 car payments instead of the 1 sudent loan payment. how about freezing tuition hikes? you froze government employees raises, why not make it so if the president of these colleges want to increase thier pay then they do it without the students paying for it? if you lower the cost of going to college then when these students get out and arent swimming in debt then they might be able to afford to buy a car...
REALLY? Talk to Jimmy Falon about student loans? What a joke!
You can be certain the Republicans will want to kill this program. The wealthy don't use student loans to send their kids to private schools.
do what ever it takes Mr. president. Obama 2012
Here we go again, Obama wanting to be with the Hollywood gang. This man really graves attention, fame, he should have been an actor. Wish he would take the White House more serious instead of trying to solve our problems with comedians.
Fallon better be worried, Obama will be looking for a new job after November.
