Former Arizona House speaker defends immigration law

(CNN) - Kirk Adams, former Arizona House speaker and an instrumental figure in the passage of the state's controversial immigration law, defended the measure as the Supreme Court hears arguments over the case Wednesday.

"We created no new immigration regime or scheme," Adams said on CNN's "Starting Point with Soledad O'Brien." "We just simply took the federal law and applied state penalties to federal law."

  1. The Real Truth and Nothing But the Real Truth

The federal government has simply refused to adequately enforce the laws of this nation for political reasons. They have also refused to secure the borders of this country for political reasons. It is an outrage that US citizens are victims every day at the hands of some of these illegal aliens. The politicians have decided the illegal aliens have more rights than the US citizens.

Democrats are now using these people as politcal pawns. Democrats support lawlessness and refuse to protect our borders. This whole topic has NOTHING to do with "immigration". It has to do with CRIMINAL activity being condoned and encouraged by Democrats. CRIMINALS from another country have no place in this country. If you want to come here, WE HAVE LAWS YOU MUST FOLLOW.

And in the process you simply overstepped your authority. States should probably be able to do much of what you law authorizes. Unfortunately, your state cannot authorize itself to do some of the things covered by the law.

►"We created no new immigration regime or scheme. We just simply took the federal law and applied state penalties to federal law."◄ that will now profile citizens and give policeman the right to demand proof of legality.

  6. The GOP opens mouth and inserts foot

This is what scares me - the GOP have repeatedly been trying to enact laws that pattern Germany's law-making process in the 1930's. Now, you have to have papers? Your family may have been in this country for the last two hundred years, but some cop pulls you over on a traffic stop and demands you produce papers because you don't 'look' right to them? This is another repeated pattern of 1930's Germany.

I realize the GOP don't see this. For that, they'd have to be intelligent and have a sense of well-known history. They don't, so they repeat it.

You are confabulating again. In last week's article about the record number of deportations you were ranting about how the "Obama regime" was going around arresting immigrants and deporting them without cause. This week the federal government isn't doing anything or not enough. Those two assertions cannot both be true. Pick one so I can hold you to it.

I hope this is enough to shine the light on all the crimes Cubans commit
here in Miami and then call it business as usual. We are the only
country in the world to offer safe harbor to the Cuban exiles with no
questions asked and we are repaid by endless thievery through welfare
scams, Medicare Scam, insurgence fraud, hurricane assistance fraud, If
Main Street, USA knew how bad the exiles and other immigrants abuse the
    system there would be outrage.

As for Truths (ahem) statement...who has deported more illegals in 3+ years than Duh Duh Duh-bya did? I guess you forgot that "They have also refused to secure the borders of this country for political reasons. ========================
Have you ever gone to another country? You need a US passport in your posssession. The USA is the only country allowing an illegal invasion of its country and refusing to stop it. What other country on the planet allows ten of millions of illegal aliens to flood into the country? NONE.

+1 for usin "confabulate"! Hehe...here's another Orwell quote explaining doublethink:

"To know and not to know, to be conscious of complete truthfulness while telling carefully constructed lies, to hold simultaneously two opinions which cancelled out, knowing them to be contradictory and believing in both of them, to use logic against logic, to repudiate morality while laying claim to it, to believe that democracy was impossible and that the Party was the guardian of democracy, to forget, whatever it was necessary to forget, then to draw it back into memory again at the moment when it was needed, and then promptly to forget it again, and above all, to apply the same process to the process itself - that was the ultimate subtlety; consciously to induce unconsciousness, and then, once again, to become unconscious of the act of hypnosis you had just performed. Even to understand the word 'doublethink' involved the use of doublethink"

Who said it was solely the province of the GOP/Teatroll and their Changeling candidate to be using doublethink to confuse voters? It's also the MSM's favorite weapon.

Wow... you're starting to flip-flip like Mittens does. Seems to be a common right wing trait.. last week you were complaining about the Obama administration's wholesale deportations.. and now they're not doing enough? Which is it? You are displaying your true "get rid of Obama at all costs, GOP colors". Political reasons... yeah. Sure. Any excuse to pound Obama.

"Democrats support lawlessness and refuse to protect our borders."

Is that why Obama has more troops and technology (even drones) on the border than have been there at any time during our history? Why he's setting records for deportations? Why he's in hot water with many hispanic advocacy groups for his "crackdown" and having to field questions about whether he's being overzealous? Why there was an article just yesteday on CNN talking about less people trying to come here illegally from Mexico?

    Face it: YOU ARE LYING.

  15. Joe from CT, not Lieberman

With the folks commenting on how similar laws the GOP controlled legislatures have been making are to those in Germany of the 1930s, please remember a significant number of the Tea Party types that have shoved their poison down the throats of the politicians are Holocaust deniers.

Wake up Rudy and stop lying about what said. Here is Obama game with immigration. He has refused to protect and defend the borders. He has targetted illegals that commit crimes for deportation and essentially granted amnesty to the others because they won't be deported unless they commit a crime, which they have by even being in this country!

Interesting that record numbers are being deported THAT HAVE COMMITED CRIMES! How many billions in court costs? How many USA citizens were their victims? And all this time Democrats have portrayed these as innocent people just looking for a better life. While that might be the case with some, it has become very clear there are huge numbers of criminals in the group as well. Just ask the Obama administration.

The strategy and deportation prioritization for those who commit crimes that Obama put in place is working...working well...and your irrational flailing just makes you, and by extension the GOP/Teatrolls you support, look petty, desperate, ridiculous and completely unwilling to address the issue in a reasoned and serious manner. Kudos.
