(CNN) – President Barack Obama will only have to travel four blocks to his campaign fundraiser in Washington Wednesday, but the event will boost his reelection bid's coffers by nearly $900,000.
A campaign aide said the evening event, held at the Jefferson Hotel, would be attended by 25 supporters paying $35,800 per ticket. That's the legal limit an individual is allowed to contribute to a campaign per cycle and to a party committee per year.
Proceeds from the fundraiser will go to the Obama Victory Fund, a joint fundraising committee of Obama for America, the Democratic National Committee and several state Democratic parties.

Last week Obama's reelection team filed fundraising records with the Federal Election Commission showing they, combined with the Democratic National Committee, had raised $53 million in March, an increase of $8 million from the month before.
In total, Obama's team has just over $104 million cash on hand, a ten-to-one advantage over likely GOP nominee Mitt Romney.
All together, Obama's campaign and the Obama Victory Fund have raised a combined $291 million through March 30.

Say what you will about Obama. The man may not know how to be President but he SURE is a bigtime fundraiser. Maybe this can be his occupation after the upcoming election.

The economy was in bad shape in 2008. That's not the issue. The issue is that in that situation Obama came in and started throwing tens of $billions at every problem that came across his desk. Meanwhile, American families and businesses were cutting back and tightening their belts. How did he get away with it? By promising jobs jobs jobs with every $billion bill he signed. Oh, and because he had congress in his pocket. In any event, for the next 2 years unemployment just continued increasing until it was over 10% by the 2010 elections. That was when the Republicans gave Democrats a "shellacking". And when unemployment started coming down. 2012 will finish the shellacking and you can be confident under Romney and a Republican congress the economy will recover for everyone.

What the heck are you talking about? I'm talking about the governance of this country and you start talking about religion, which you lefties always decry. You leftist only use religion if it furthers you're political power grab. Otherwise your ranting against seperation of chuirch and state. Make up your mind flip flopper.
BTW, the words "promote the general welfare" doesn't mean to get everybody ON government welfare. The powers of the federal government were LIMITED by the Constitution, not a limitless power transfer from the people to the federal government.
