Romney to appear with possible VP pick Ayotte in New Hampshire

(CNN) – GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney will return to the campaign trail on Monday after taking the weekend off, and for the second week in a row will appear alongside a potential vice presidential pick, his campaign said Saturday.

Romney will appear with U.S. Sen. Kelly Ayotte, a native of the New Hampshire who has backed him and is seen as a rising star in the Republican party, at an event in Portsmouth.

The former Massachusetts governor could be seen as test driving possible running mates in a series of campaign trail appearances. Last week, Romney campaigned alongside Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida in Pennsylvania; both states are November battlegrounds.

And ahead of the primary in Wisconsin earlier this month, Romney campaigned with Paul Ryan, the popular representative from the state who is especially influential as chair of the House Budget Committee.

The upcoming visit to New Hampshire’s coast will be his second stop in the state in a week. While votes were tallied and reported in five states last week, Romney rallied supporters in Manchester, New Hampshire, at an event designed to mark his pivot from a primary election focus to the general election.

Romney last campaigned with Ayotte ahead of the New Hampshire primary in January. In a television interview after a campaign stop, Romney was seated alongside her, and aknowledged that she would be among the Republicans worthy of consideration for his number two spot.

– CNN's Steve Brusk and Gregory Wallace contributed to this report.

Remember Romney's not doing the picking because if he were he wouldn't pick this woman. This woman is pro-life but supports the death penalty, read her bio.

Thank you, Mitt Romney, for your 20 years dedication to outsourcing jobs to slave labor countries so that Americans cannot find work, cannot pay for their homes or education. Good job. Did you get on the destroy America bandwagon all those years ago because your Mormon ancestors were persecuted in the United States and they ran away to Mexico? Do you really think a "female" VP will fool voters?

At least she won't look like she's just out of high school next to Romney like Rubio did. With his speech on foreign policy Rubio made it clear he is not ready for prime time. He presentation skills are awful and the content was right out the Dems way of doing things. Loved the content – hated the delivery.

Mittens cannot pull off the republican war on women without a woman to help him. I wonder how the personhood flip flopper, severely conservative, now left leaning liar plays in the red states. Suddenly, baggers will realize that Mittens only qualification for president is being white.

Mittens is a pathetic excuse for a presidential candidate. He has surrounded himself with enough Bush advisors, to guarantee a return to the Bush republican near depression.

It will take more than picking a woman to get the thinking women of America to support the GOP and their clearly ant-woman agenda. There are more intelligent women i this country than their are Sarah Palins. I pray they all vote.

"Kelly Ayotte, a native of the New Hampshire who has backed him and is seen as a rising star in the Republican party,"

Another "rising star" in the GOP?

All the other rising stars have flamed out to be tiny little meteorite duds.

  10. Grow up already...

Anpther "rising star"? What's THAT mean? Two degrees above the horizon?

"Ayotte has been criticized for her former office's alleged refusal to investigate charges against mortgage investment firm Financial Resources Mortgage (FRM)[24] which has been accused of orchestrating a $80–100 million Ponzi scheme."

Ah, indeed, Ayotte will fit right in with Mr. 1%.

@Wire Palladin, S.F.:"Suddenly, baggers will realize that Mittens only qualification for president is being white."

Actually, it's a bit more than that. Based on the last three GOP Presidential contenders, he also has to be willing to be a puppet (check), think that trickle-down economics work (check) and, in the spirit of John McCain, be willing to sell your soul to Karl Rove (check).

Robmey also fits Grover Norquist's "qualifications" for President:

"Pick a Republican with enough working digits to handle a pen to become president of the United States. This is a change for Republicans: the House and Senate doing the work with the president signing bills. His job is to be captain of the team, to sign the legislation that has already been prepared."

She is a very intelligent, telegenic woman with very successful private sector and public service careers. With that said her views on social issues are just way too extreme.

Kelly Ayotte on Mitt Romney lagging behind with women voters:

"In order to move ahead in this area, she said, Romney will need a secret weapon—his wife, Ann, she contends. “She really relates to people,” she said. “I think she’s terrific.” Ayotte continued, saying that if Ann and his daughters-in-law are on the stump, Romney will come ahead in the general."

Kelly isn't what I would call a real vote getter. Let her stay in N.H. where in all likelihood she will herself be replaced next time around with a senatorial candidate showing more ... ummm ... accomplished leadership skills.

A quick demo for all the GOBPbaggers who don't understand how to use the word "pathetic":

"Rmoney's VP test drives of clearly unqualified candidates, in order to pander to groups such as women and HIspanics, is truly pathetic."

    Now that's how it's done!

American women would not be deceived. In spite of the vast presence of women in the GOP, the men still ridicule and punt with women issues. So, a woman vp is just another one of those deceitful Miit Romney's "eating his cake and having it"syndrome. I cannot believe any church made such a chronic issues camel ion a bishop. Politics apart, Romney cannot personally be trusted. Ulterior motives and expediency are all behind this pick and the American people are about to shame them as McCain and Palin found out.

Since the economy is going in the right direction. Slow, but it is going in the right direction. Why would we pick Republicans that caused the great recession and to bring back advisors that had led President Bush in the fire? Why would we go back to the fire? Why would women vote for Republicans that will take away all the benefits of Healthcare Prevention for our families? I am terrified to see the Republicans take over the President's seat. Romney is not an honest man. It is proven by his secretive financial affairs. He refuses to come clean and show the American people how much money he made in all the investments he benefited from. Romney would wage ware on our children's blood so that Americans would look tough to the world. American people want peace. We want to get along with all countries. Americans want the government to help us. The American people need help. President Obama is not weak. He is intelligent. He knows he cannot wage wars with other countries and assist the American people to have a better life. He knows he cannot take anymore taxpayer' s money to support wars in other countries. Republicans you are a disgrace and we have no use for you. Why in hell would a woman want to be a VP with you. How can she support you by kicking the asses of all of the women in the US. Wish this election was over with. Let President Obama finsh what he started. Look at 2016 to revisit the Presidency. We are patient and will agree to a slow uphill battle.
