GOP says Obama playing politics with bin Laden anniversary

Washington (CNN) - Days before the one-year anniversary of the raid that killed Osama bin Laden, top surrogates for President Barack Obama and presumptive Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney took to the national stage to argue the politics of the attack.

Senior Obama campaign adviser Robert Gibbs defended the campaign's use of the event in a recent Web video and in a speech from Vice President Joe Biden. Meanwhile, senior Romney adviser Ed Gillespie characterized the political steps surrounding the death as a "bridge too far."

Leave it up to these repubs to find a way not to give Obama any credit, yet if the seals were killed or captured, we would have been looking at impeachment procedures, as the repubs shout out, "WE TOLD YOU THAT THE DEMS ARE DESASTEROUS WITH FOREIGN POLICIES, LOOK WHO THEYVE GOT RUNNING OUR COUNTRY INTO THE DIRT". The repubs and fox news probably would be still partying today. The repubs have been trying to figure out a way to scare the American gullibles into beleiving the end of the earth is here.

I will say it again... Bush used 9/11 to politicize fear and "if you're not with us, you're against us" to get his way. 9/11 happened under his watch and he used it to his advantage. Bin Laden happened under Obama's watch. he can use it to his advantage. heaven knows the republicans would if they could.

Bush, after months of failure said Osama wasn't a priority.
Bush failed to capture Osama in all his years in office.

Romney, in an idiotic attempt to defend Bush's failure, parroted Bush's line about Osama not being a priority.
Since no one wanted to chance four more years of Bush again, we'll never know if Osama would have been caught by the Etch a Sketch.

Obama said Osama was a priority for his administration since the beginning.
Obama sent Seal Team Six to capture/kill Osama. Osama is dead.

In summery: Republicans tried to attack Obama's foreign record. Obama slapped them down and reminded them of theirs.

"GOP says Obama playing politics with bin Laden anniversary"

Right...the party the shamelessly labeled people traitors and unAmerican for disagreeing about the two bogus wars, the party that used 9/11 as a campaign prop for years...those folks are criticizing Obama? I guess they would...failure can make one a bit defensive. You'd think that they'd celebrate the killing of the terrorist that wreaked havoc on our country, but no...not the republicans. Some patriots.

Go Mitt down the drain of course.

Yes, the GOP is correct onece again. The President should ignore the fact that we finally got the villian who perpetrated 9/11, so that the RNC, Rove and the rest of the disinformation, propoganda and out right liars can make him out to be a closet Muslim. Memo to GOP: Sit down and try to work out a platform that consists of something other than, if the President is for it, we are against it. The voters are not buying into it.

once Bin Laden was dead many members of the GOP including their "Pravada" FoxNews were rushing all over themselves not to give thanks to President Obama but to somehow give most of the credit to President Bush for the task. It fit right into their plan from day one of the Obama presidency to not agree nor give him credit for ANYTHING. So now they want to claim Obama is using this as politics. Kind of more honest than claiming "MISSION ACCOMPLISHED" when it really was not. Had President Bush done this before his second term, you think HE would not use it? As far as I am concerned "Bin Laden is DEAD and GM is ALIVE" is a great slogan and TRUE!

There is no politics. It happens to be the anniversary of the attack that killed Bin Laden. And if there is President Obama should take the credit. He ordered the kill. Bush gave up in 2002. " Frankly I don't know where he is and I am not that concerned about it." -– George W. Bush.

Gillespie – Bush using an unsubstantiated Mission Accomplished banner was a bridge too far. Using Romney's own words is not.

President Obama should commemorate the end of OBL as successful accomplishment for our country.

Given that the Republicans have dropped the ball multiple ways on finishing the fight against Al Qeda and Bin Laden, it isn't a huge surprise because George W. Bush question who while Romney said that it isn't worth while going after one person.

Rebublicans are so jealous . If it had been them that got Bin Laden, they would make it a national holiday.

Jealousy will get you nowhere, GOP! LOL

Funny how the GOP say the President can't run on his record, but when he tries to run on his record they complain. So what they really mean by "he can't run on his record" is that they will NOT allow him to run on his record.

Sorry I have to break it to the GOP but THE PRESIDENT made the call and the job as done – period. No one else should take a shot at this accomplishment by the President and all involved (ST6, analysts, translators, pilots, crew, etc).
