Crowley: Playing politics with bin Laden

Washington (CNN) - It was probably only a matter of time - about 365 days, in fact - before the death of Osama bin Laden got into the political groundwater of 2012.

In a campaign ad for President Barack Obama, former President Bill Clinton praises Obama for approving the risky raid into Pakistan and suggests Mitt Romney wouldn't have.

Bill Clinton. The man who sat by and watched Osama bomb the US Cole. Bill Clinton. The man who allowed the first WTC bombing. Bill Clinton. The man who refused to answer the CIA phone when they had Osama cornered. Bill Clinton. The man, the myth, the blow hard fiddler who could have captured Osama and sent him to Gitmo where he would have been water boarded and the whole al qaeda network could have been wiped off the face of the earth. Bill Clinton. The favorite president of all liberals who put gay marraige and raising taxes above the safety and security of this nation. I'll never be a liberal.

The Real Truth and Nothing But Real Truth-Bush put those people out of work- Not Obama. The economy has seem continous growth for the last 26 months. What has the GOP done? Zilch!

The republicans killed the economy, destroyed American jobs, gave President Obama a $12 trillion dollar national debt, and Bush's last budget had a $1.37 trillion deficit. Conservatives are pretty good at spending money and driving up debt, while simultaneously attacking women, seniors, veterans, workers, college students and the uninsured.

Romney should be held accountable for his own words–flip flops and all. It unfortunately illustrates Mitt's stark inconsistencies as a politician.

Indeed. And so too should the entire Republican party be held accountable for their sideline cheering of the continued suffering of milliions by using that suffering as a political tool. Maybe Mitt can send us a list of all he has had to endure this past decade. You know, all the "little things" he and his family have been forced to do without. For a guy who loves to tell us how he can relate, he's been awfully smug. Rather nasty, actually.

I would also argue that Mitt Romney has been one of the most vocal cheerleaders of doom and gloom to date, he-he-ing his way from one state to another...

You do not appear to be very good at math, my friend. 26 months of private sector job creation was not November. Please try again.

Actually, it was the social safety nets that saved us. The safety nets that did not exist in 1929 led to the extended economic downturn of the 1930s. In 2008, we were facing similar if not worse economic troubles. What kept us from sliding into depression were the social safety nets: unemployment insurance for the middle class; Social Security income for seniors; Medicare, Medicaid, and the other social safety nets.

BTW. Thanks for reminding us of the Great Sucker Punch that Republicans across the nation pulled on voters.

Hussein regime gone. Friendly democratic elected government in. Don't get greedy. This is huge. Our world's best military did a job we all can be proud of. It was not easy. But it's over.

Agree, and I used to be a Republican (not anymore). Romney has sadly run a very negative campaign, almost seeming to hope for bad news.

nobama 2012- the 68,000 guns that got to Mexico got there through legal gun sales in the U.S. The Gun Walking program that got guns to Mexico began under President Bush. What this has to do with this discussion beats me- but as you brought it up-please get your facts straight!

Operation "wide receiver" but the tightie righties don't bring that point up. Everything started January 2009 when Obama replaced the blithering idiot from Midland TX according to their thought process

@he Real Truth and Nothing But Real Truth
Obama using Bin Laden's death is a sign of pure desperation on his part. He can't talk about the 20 million people he has kept unemployed for a record length of time.

A better Obama slogan would be:

Obama 2012: Killed Bin Laden, now Killing our Economy.

@ The Real Truth and Nothing But Real Truth and Four And The Door .

What do you read , what do you listen too ?

You can have your own opinions , but you can't have your own facts !

If the majority of Americans have the same short term memory as you , we are doomed , doomed to repeat history !

This election comes down to people such as yourself wanting a salesman as President , and people such as myself that want a Statesman. !

Bush was a Salesman with nothing to loose , and so is Romney !

Marty, FL – Pres. Obama was steadily able to save our country from the Great Recession, overseeing 26 consecutive months of private sector job creation.
Just gotta love this bogus leftwing talking point. So If the economy had created 10 jobs over 26 consecutive months, THAT is positive job growth as well. Would he be out there pounding his chest over that substandard performance? Well guess what? The number of jobs beinbg created, while positiove, is NO WHERE NEAR what the economy and this country needs.

The FACT is that Obama and his leftwing Democrats are a WET BLANKET on the entire economy. Their socialist big government "solutions" to everything are a drenching fire hose to an economy trying to catch fire. If Americans want the disaster that is Europe here, keep voting for leftwing Democrats. They can destroy an economy, and a country, if given enough time in office.

The the CIA found him, our military devised a plan to get him, Leon Panetta and the Admirial in charge of the seals were going to execute the plan with or without Obama, Obama had to be pulled off the golf course to sit on a box in the corner to watch.

  16. vote the Tea Party OUT in 2012

I see 3 possible things that could have happened here.. The best of course is what did happen. But what if President Obama made the call and the results were like Jimmy Carter's call and a failure....US lives lost...bin Laden escapes. Or if Obama had a chance to make this call and it leaked out that he chose NOT to. The GOP in the latter two cases would lead to a GOP attack then on lack of leadership, lack of decision making, and of course assured then one term. The GOP wants nothing more than failure at all costs.

Bush and the republicans used 911 for years. Never heard a single republican say a single word about politicizing that.

When former President George W. Bush was asked about finding bin Laden after several years of failure, he said "I'm not worried about bin Laden", why, because he knew President Obama would find him. Yes, it's important that President Obama uses the truth in his campaign, because he heard exactly what Bush said.

Are you joking?! Obama is the biggest salesman of SNAKE OIL this country has ever endured. True statesman do not spew the hate filled divisve rhetoric that Obama does. True stateman do not pit one group of Americans against another. True stateman do not demonize entire segments of our economy. You need to get your head out of the sand and see the damage Obama is doing to this country.

Sorry, Four, your answer is lame. Greed belongs to Halliburton. "Friendly democratic elected government"? You
mean the ones who would not give our military immunity from prosecution?
The military did their job, as always. The Bush Administration did not.

The President must be given credit for giving the order to kill Osama Bin Laden. Remember "Mission Accomplished" – George Bush in full Military aviation gear, holding a helmet on the war ship – I can never get that out of my mind, because our young me and women continued to die in Iraq after that – I am sickened by Republican Amnesia!!!!!!!!!!!. Give me a break, Obama deserves the credit. Be decent enough to grant his administration that.

Real leaders don't step in front of their people to seek praise and recognition ahead of them. Real leaders are too busy leading instead of campaigning. The recognition they do receive is mostly unexpected and the most always defer that recognition to those that actually accomplished the mission.

Actually, PRESIDENT Obama was attending the Correspondent's dinner knowing full well what was about to
happen. He then went to watch it after making the tough decision to order the attack.
That's what we call cool and collected. Ability to walk and chew gum at the same time. A willingness to take
risks after getting advice - he gave the consent.
