(CNN) – Soon to be former Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich on Tuesday thanked his supporters and vowed to continue working to defeat President Barack Obama via web video ahead of his official campaign suspension on Wednesday.
"Because of your help and your support, we were able to put up a terrific campaign, and I want you to know that Callista and I are both very grateful to everybody across the country," Gingrich said. "I want you to know that we're going to continue out there on the road. Both Callista and I will be talking, campaigning, making speeches, doing everything we can to help defeat Barack Obama."

The former House speaker, who announced his White House bid last May, is scheduled to suspend his campaign in the afternoon on Wednesday and back Mitt Romney, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee. Although Romney will be in the Washington, DC area during the day, sources familiar with the session told CNN Chief Political Analyst Gloria Borger not to expect Romney to be in attendance at the announcement.
Sources previously told CNN Political Director Mark Preston Gingrich is expected to endorse Romney.
While Romney is not expected at the Wednesday afternoon event, the Romney and Gingrich campaigns have discussed the two appearing at a second event in the near future, according to a source familiar with the discussions.
The two campaigns have had ongoing talks since Gingrich signalled last week he was going to pull out.
Gingrich did not mention the former Massachusetts governor by name in the video to supporters, but he stressed the importance of voters joining the effort to oust Obama from the White House.
"A re-election of Barack Obama will be a genuine disaster. And all of us have an obligation I think to do everything we can to defeat Barack Obama," he said. "I hope you'll join us in this historic effort because this is still the most historic election in our lifetime."

Four and the Door – You are completely wrong when you say Obama is over his head. It seems to me that the failed Bush-Republican experiment that caused the greatest financial crisis since the Great Depression is proof that the Republicans don't have a clue what I needed to run this country. Obama has been fighting hard for the recovery despite Republican obstructionism every step of the way. The Republicans need to get out of the way so this country can move forward. Obama 2012
Good riddance ........... you are a very scary and arrogant man.
Good riddens. You two timing cheater.
So now you are going to chum up to Romney so that you can special interest money.
Let's get rid of these bufffons
BUH BYE...it's about time..Your ego hurt you badly. Worse you may have contributed to Obama's reelection

Let me be more specific. Obama's world consists of Academia and Government. That's all he knows. That's the extent of his comfort zone for solving problems. That's not enough to fix the economy which by the way is primarily private business and not in his comfort zone. Think Solyndra. Whiz-bang technology but a lousy business plan. Throwing $500 million at it didn't buy that company back to life any better than $850 billion didn't buy the economy back to life. There's more to it. Economics is different than academic law. Very different. There are people who know economics and how to get private companies to do their part to bring America's economy back to life. There are experts.
Romney 2012.
Maybe you would have done better if you would have campaigned on what you could do for this country, instead of having the defeat of Obama be your main goal!
"vowed to continue working and doing everything we can to help defeat Barack Obama." Haman Cain said something similar to this. Haven't heard anything from him since.
The issue is the ECONOMY and whoever believes different is fooling themselves. Mr. Obama's philosophies about income redistribution will do nothing to decrease the debt and movie our economy forward. Our economy is NOT recovering at the pace that we had hoped it would. If we continue on this path, the unemployment rate will remain where it is and America will become another Greece. Forget partisan politics and let's start actually problem-solving!
Sorry to see Newty go, he was such good entertainment. Perhaps the greatest one was the moon base plan and the whole what ever state you're in promise them what they need and at the same time talk about reduced taxes. Exactly how does that work, more spending, lower taxes, oh wait, that's what the GOP did for 8 years isn't it.
There goes our moon base. RATS.....

Rudy NYC – this version of the Democratic Party and Obama are not anything like the John F. Kennedy presidency and Democratic Party then. Defeating Obama and this Democratic Party would do more for America and the middle class than any Stimulus package, Health Care law or executive order.
-------------
You are more correct than you realize. I think I see why you might like them. The party of JFK was full of Dixiecrats. After JFK's assasination, they objected to the Civil Rights Act. They left the Democratic Party and joined the Republicans. To make a long story short, this group were known as: southern evangilicals in the '70s; Reagan Democrats in the '80s; and conservative evangelicals ever since until the election of Barack Obama when the more radical and extreme elements took control of a grass roots movement known as the Tea Party.
Good bye and good riddance, and please let the door hit in the rear you old fool.
"Both Callista and I will be talking, campaigning, making speeches, doing everything we can to help defeat Barack Obama... A re-election of Barack Obama will be a genuine disaster. And all of us have an obligation I think to do everything we can to defeat Barack Obama..."
Yup, and that's why the voters all loved him so much - his positive attitude and clearly articulated, well thought out plans for America's future. Also the way he never repeated meaningless political slogans and empty catchphrases over and over and over and over and over and...
'Bye Newt! Never even noticed that you were gone!
He said GOODBY back in the 90s , what dose he need , an eviction notice !
I hope he enjoys he new job as lobbyist for Zoo's .
CONTRACT ON AMERICA !
Not only is Obama in over his head, he's clueless about the economy. He looks at EVERYTHING through his social justice/wealth redistribution filter. There are good and bad businesses and the good businesses. Bad businesses get, well, crucified by the EPA. It's just too bad for their employees I guess. 8-10% is the unemployment rate of an anti-business leftwing administration. If Obama gets re-elected then that is what the rate will be for another 4 years.
Don't pity The Newtster as he will do just fine on FOX .
Hey Newt, can you show me how to setup one of those revolving Tiffany accounts?
Gingrich – A stupid mans idea of a smart man.
'Nuff said.

Hey Newt, can you show me how to setup one of those revolving Tiffany accounts?
====================================================================
If you need to ask how, you obviously can't afford it. Might I suggest a Zales account instead?
i wonder what is the obvious reson that Newt, Bachman, Ari Flecher, Cheney and several others ,why they never call Barack Obama Mr President or President Obama, but Barack or Obama. that to me is pretty obvious how the y disrepect him and the office he holds from being voted in by all american citizens, and when it Mitt Romney O Newt or Santorium they address them as Mr Speaker, Governor , Senator. They are no longer holding those office, yet The President is and they still do not address him with respect. they even go a far to adrees govenor palin, who left office to make money.and she suppose to care about all of you who are reading this to. Get Real
talk about a deep seeded divide in this country.
Am actually sorry for my comments on President Obama. Deep down in my heart, I think is doing a very good job. He deserve to be re-elected. I could not say this about Mitt Romney..

Wow, what a load of disinfo. Lets start by noting the $800 billion stimulus number reflects what was legislated, not what was spent (closer to $500 billion). Lets also note how your hot air and nonsense about academics, business and government is a whole bunch of words saying nothing. The FACT speak loudly, though. Your GOBP cult of "businessman worshippers" consistently produces terrible economic results. So essentially your argument is "President Obama isn't all like our business guys who keep screwing things up." Is that all ya got?
"Bad businesses get, well, crucified by the EPA."
Bad businesses that pollute our environment SHOULD be "crucified by the EPA." Which is what the guy was talking about. You, on the other hand, obviously support the pro-pollution position.
Let's get real
The issue is the ECONOMY and whoever believes different is fooling themselves. Mr. Obama's philosophies about income redistribution will do nothing to decrease the debt and movie our economy forward.

If you do not believe that income redistribution is a major drain on the economy, then you do not understand why the economy crashed *across all sectors* in 2008. It crashed because the air had been sucked out of the balloon. The middle class has been crushed and all of their disposable income has evaporated. Demand is down, way down.
Have you noticed that you keep hearing talk of how there's one trillion sitting in banks supposedly waiting for the economy to pick back up. Well that estimate has grown to over two trillion. Meanwhile, the middle class is in bad shape and getting worse, thanks to conservative fiscal policies. So lets' finish the destruction and vote them back in power.
IF i can read about Newt, I find him hilarious. The minute I see him on TV, I want to puke. There are few bigger jerks than Newt in politics, which is saying a lot.
