(CNN) - Former presidential candidate Michele Bachmann will endorse Mitt Romney on Thursday, a Romney campaign official confirmed to CNN.
Bachmann is set to appear with the presumptive Republican presidential nominee at an event in Portsmouth, Virginia at 1:15 p.m.

"We've had a hard fought battle already to choose a candidate. Being personally involved in the endorsement process was an honor for me. And I want to thank everyone involved in the campaigns, from the candidates, the delegates, the volunteers, all of us can be proud of our efforts," Bachmann said in a statement Thursday ahead of her appearance with Romney.
The Minnesota congresswoman has repeatedly said in recent weeks it was only a matter of time before she would officially back Romney.
As a candidate, Bachmann initially ran with large tea party appeal, frequently bucking what she described as the more establishment faction of the party that Romney represented.
Her endorsement comes weeks after former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum dropped out of the race, a move that essentially locked up the nomination for Romney.
Asked repeatedly why she was holding out in her support for Romney, Bachmann would not go into specifics but said she was working "behind the scenes, bringing together all factions of our party."
"As the line says in the 'Wizard of Oz,' 'All in good time, my pretty,'" Bachmann said on CNN's "The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer" last week. "It will happen."
National Review first reported the news of Bachmann's upcoming endorsement.
- CNN's Peter Hamby and Ashley Killough contributed to this report.

A fanatic endorses gumby...
It' time her to back him up because Mitt Romney is going to be the next president of America.
Who cares!
well that settles it! if crazy lady is for mitt, than my independent vote goes to barry
Republicans are finally coming together to realize that this election is not about Romney or any particular candidate. It is about getting Obama out of office.
Well he has lost the race now..put a nail in it.
It is not surprising that the queen of government socialism would endorse the most liberal GOP candidate instead of the only true conservative Ron Paul. Bachmann cannot afford to give up her family's farm subsidies, her husband's medicaid payments, nor her taxpayer paid healthcare insurance.
Wow this endorsement means a whooping 2 more votes for the losing Romney in Nov.
Isn't that lovely. The ultimate fake smiles. She thinks he is useless. He thinks, she is stupid. And they are both right.
I guess we wont be hearing anymore about conservative principles, til 2016.
Dumb and Dumber..
Michelle would quote a witch, because she supported Christine O'Connell who was a witch....it takes one to know one, right "my pretty." Reason enough NOT to vote for these tarnished has beens.....no one listens to her anymore and her viewpoint is stale hollow and empty. Although she probabely could use "an eye of Newt" to quote the real witches of Macbeth and hopefully fly away on her brommstick to never, never again land.
Conservative principles, disposable gimmick
Don't know who will benefit from that endorsement.
I hope she read today's report on all of Romney's Overseas Bank Accounts from Australia to Ireland to the Cayman Islands.
She waited until her endorsement was worthless, as it would have been regardless of when she made it anyways. Donald Trump's endorsement was worth more, and that is saying a lot.
and that is something he is advertising!? major score for Obama!
Who cares?
same ole same ole is news?
Sorry Michelle, quoting from the Wizard of Oz makes you sound like a witch,....and a little scary. Better to fly back to never land and hope Glenda the Good will be the VP nominee because you sure won't be.
