Perry: ‘God help us’ if Romney doesn’t win

(CNN) – If the voters who supported his presidential bid aren’t fired up to support Mitt Romney, the GOP had “better get a fire going,” Rick Perry said Thursday.

“God help us if he doesn’t win,” Perry said in an interview on Fox News.

The Republican Texas governor looked beyond differences that emerged on the campaign trail between himself and the former Massachusetts governor, including the financial industry bailout designed to keep “too big to fail” banks above water.

“I think he understands that too big to fail – and I’ve heard him say that on numerous occasions – is not appropriate, and that the economic models of supply and demand - they work,” Perry said.

The issue of bank bailouts made under the administration of President George W. Bush, however, may be a lasting difference between Perry and Romney. While Romney has said he opposed federal bailout of the auto industry – arguing in his “Let Detroit Go Bankrupt” op-ed that a process of managed bankruptcy would serve the company better – he said as recently as March that the financial industry bailout was a different matter.

“There was a different occurrence that happened at the end of President Bush’s term, and this was that there was a concern in the country that all of the banks were going to go out of business, that there was going to be a run on the banks,” Romney said in Arbutus, Maryland. Concerned with the stability of large banks, he said companies were prepared to pull millions of dollars from their accounts, and with that “there was a fear that the whole economic system of America would collapse.”

Perry had a different take on bailouts on Thursday. “Whether it’s Wall Street or motor companies, is bad public policy.”

When he withdrew from the presidential race after a disappointing finish in the Iowa caucuses, Perry threw his support to former U.S. House Speaker Newt Gingrich, who ended his own bid this week. As the nomination appeared increasingly to be going Romney’s way, Perry made a late April announcement that he would back Romney.

But should Romney not win in November, Perry may have yet another run up his sleeve. He said in February that the 2012 debates “could be” preparation for a White House run in 2016.

God help us if Mitt Romney wins! It would be a repeat of the GWB's administration as we know it! Another 9/11, more illegitimate foreign wars and a return to economic stagnation to say the least! And perhaps WWIII, God forbid! And by the way Mr. Perry, how many Americans have died as a result of the foreign and domestic policies of the Obama administration? I can help you with that...ZERO! And how many Americans have died as a result of the foreign and domestic policies of the GWB administration? Thousands and more continue to die in Afghanistan as we speak! And unfortunately, when GWB endorsed Mitt Romney a few weeks ago, his intentions were for Mitt Romney to embrace and continue his failed and misguided policies that have ruined us! Yea, God help us if President Obama doesn't win!

Obama is the best president of my lifetime and I'm not interested in what some dumb religious fanatic from Texas has to say about it. Oh, by the way...the unemployment rate dropped again to 8.1%, from nearly 10% and jobs were added vs. when Obama took office and the economy was losing nearly a million jobs a month. Thank GOD for Obama.

When I first saw the Ticker: 'God Help Us' Perry says, I thought it was a story about Katy Perry. Who is this Rick Perry?

Perry is a flagrant example of everything that is wrong with American Politics: It is dominated and completely controlled by RELIGION, by religious zealots who sincerely believe that there is an imaginary man in the sky controlling everything that happens… Perhaps if Perry was to get 50 – 60 thousand people together in a stadium in Texas they could all pray for rain; oh, wait, he tried that… maybe he could get these same people together and pray that Willard is elected…

    Pigs fly too…

If Romney doesn't get elected whatever will happen to the GOP plan to make sure that the vast majority of Americans are minimum wage workers. Think about it, corporations are making record profits but don't hire new workers, instead they lower wages and cut back hours, they're trying to force people to work for less, the GOP talkng heads are starting to say maybe it's not such a good idea for people to get a college education, Newt said we should use children to clean schools because janitors cost too much? During Bush's term I remember hearing one of his economic advisors state that "Americans should learn to work for less money" .........Do you see a trend here? Corporate America looks at places like China where there are millions of skilled workers getting $3 a day and salivates at the thought of those kind of profit margins here. And they don't care anymore if Americans make a decent wage because there are so many more new markets in the world.

And when Romney heard this, he said "Gods Help Us" (because Mormons believe in more than one God).

Perry has wasted millions of taxpayer dollars on his crap. He rents a mansion, has his own chef, takes trips to foreign countries, all on the taxpayer's dime. He wasted over 4 million dollars on security, while he was running for president. He loves wasting other people's money. He draws retirement from the State of Tx., when he's not retired. Because of him and the Republican hypocrites' in the Tx. Legislature, 130 thousand women have lost health care. Perry is a liar and hypocrite. The man is useless.

This guy has got to be one of the dumbest people on the face of the earth....why should he care about the 100rdeds of thousands of jobs that would have been lost in the auto industry, which by the way are paying their debts back...nothing that happens in the economy effects his or romney's 10's of millions...they are both totally immune to the ups and downs of this economy

I just wish we were rid of perry. he is one more thing we can blame bush for. romney is hollering where are the jobs. he should ask the republicans in the house, they promised jobs but every time Obama comes up with a job plan they all vote no. the people should see that the republicans do not care about creatating jobs as long as Obama is president. they will destroy america to try to get rid of Obama. if romney is elected he will sell america to china.

Judging from this years performance he'll need at least 4 years to prepare.

I find it interesting that, even when you say nothing bad, if our comment does not fit their "formula" you are "moderated" before you can speak. I believe that is called censorship. And this from the people who scream "freedom of the press" at the top of their lungs.
